Looking for LLMD in Chicago

Hey all. I currently have a great LLMD, that was actually the one to diagnose me after being sick for 4 years. I have been seeing her for about a year now and started with oral antibiotics, which i refused after 4 months due to side effects (and not wanting to look/feel sick for my wedding and honeymoon) and have been on herbs ever since. She is very smart and an amazing doctor, but she doesn't do IV antibiotics.

I am seeing her tomorrow to follow up on a few reactivated viruses that I have and am going to ask for a recommendation for a second opinion, but I wanted to reach out on here as well. I don't doubt her knowledge or effectiveness of her prescribed treatment regimen for me, and hope she doesn't take offense by me asking, but I just feel like exploring IV antibiotics may be what I need to jump start everything. I need to advocate for myself and at least explore other options. I'm an oncology nurse and one of the most important advice I give my patients is to advocate for themselves and never hesitate if they feel they need reassurance or a different perspective in a second opinion. They deserve to feel confident in and comfortable with their treatment and so do I. We all do.

For information on finding a​n ILADS ​(International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society)​ trained​ Lyme Literate Medical Doctor(LLMD) in your area, you will need to enable your email option in your profile in order to receive any recommendations, as we don't allow doctor's names and contact info to be posted on the forum for several reasons. You can enable your email option in your profile, under 'edit profile'. Be sure to click the submit button to actually save your preference.


​You can send Traveler an email by clicking on her screen name or the small blue envelope under her screen name. She may have contact information for some LLMD's in your area as well.​ ​Please include your state (or province) and area that you would like to find a LLMD in and she will be happy to share the names that she has.


You can email the Tick-Borne Disease Alliance at [email protected]​ for LLMD referrals and you can go to ​tbdalliance.org​​ to learn more about these infections.


You can go to The Lyme Disease Association and search for LLMD's 3 times in a month. You have to register first. Here is the link:

​ You will want to find an ILADS trained doctor, not one that has self proclaimed themselves as a LLMD or an ID Doc (Infectious Disease Doctor), as ID docs believe Lyme is hard to catch and easy to treat, and don't believe in the reality of chronic Lyme. I have a very good LLMD in Chicago, but since I've only ever known of one, I wonder if it's the same one you're seeing - on Lincoln Ave? If not, I can message you her name.
