Hi guys! Been a while since I updated. As some of you might remember, I had a huge setback this summer when I was put on an aggressive (for me) treatment for borrelia/protomyxzoa/msids. I've always been sensitive and had strong herx reactions, but here it was otherworldly. I had a huge response, and the doctor kept telling me to push through. I made a mistake, didn't trust my gut and tried to push through, and I've spent the last 6 months trying to recover from the worst pain I've ever experienced. Had to stop all antimicrobials. Things are improving, but at a rather glacial pace!
Anyhow, I've been looking at different angles for how I am going to proceed. I obviously have issues with eliminating toxins and immune system issues. I ended up getting tested for a lot Dr Shoemaker's markers that he looks at in biotoxin illness. As it turns out, a lot of my markers work within the conceptual framework of this issue. I have high mmp9 and tgf b-1. I have low vegf, leptin, adh, and very low msh. I am also genetically susceptible to toxins/elimination/and mold via the hla-dr testing.
This is a good flow chart that brings the concept together:

Do any of you have any experience with this stuff? or gotten the tests? I'm initially going to be adding in supplements like fish oil, resveratrol, bcq (boswellia, curcumin, and quercetin) to see if they can help with inflammation/immune modulation. And also cholestyramine for toxin binding. But I'm going to be super careful, as my body is still iffy and really can't afford any backsliding or things that could make my symptoms worse.
I wasn't surprised that my immune system markers were out of whack, but I'm happy to have some concrete data to work from. I am hopeful that it might be a part of the puzzle that will allow me to restart treatments and make things more manageable :)
I'm going to keep researching this angle, the markers, look into other patient stories, hopefully I'll develop a better understanding of this stuff and what it might or might not mean.
