Not sleeping well. Dr. recommends Taking 2 capsules (2g each) 1/2 before bed. Bottle say I can take 2-4. Some nights it helps some nights it doesn't; thinking of increasing. Anybody taking it? I think Magnesium helps, too.

I take tryptophan for sleep as well. I take 1500 mgs at night. My doc told me that if I wake up and can't get back to sleep within a reasonable time, to take another dose. I also take magnesium, melatonin and valerian along with the tryptophan.
I use Lidtke brand tryptophan as my doc says it's more potent due to the way that company processes it.

I do Benadryl. It is recommended for detox and for headache induced herxs. I also find it puts me to sleep, but I am so easy with meds.

yes, l-tryptophan helps produce serotonin, it's good to take before bed.

Thank you for your responses. The brand he gave me is Complementary Prescript
ions from Mountain States Supplements. I also take melatonin and Kavinace-which is B6, taurine, phenoylbutyric acid, (an amino acid) which provides GABA support, helps relieve stress and anxiousness. Dealing with a lot of neuropsych issues- depression and anxiety. Doing Genomind to determine which meds may be good for me specifically to try to refude the trial and error phase of finding the right meds for depression and dose. I believe it is a fairly new test within the last year.
