So um new symptom?

As some of you might have read my past threads on what I have been dealing with I had an interesting night. After seeing a post on how l-lysine helped someone with mono I decided to give it a try not really knowing how much to take so I took 2000 x 3 times a day. Yesterday and today I am having insane chest pain which isn't really new and im shaking a bit but this is normal for me. What I find weird was about 2 in the morning my fiance and I were still up watching tv in bed house of cards... anyways the whole left side of my face went completely numb and I did not feel it and I could not open my left eye. So i laid there and started slapping my face and my fiance was like what are you doing? She looked at me and said my mouth was slanted and I was slurring my words, this only lasted about 3 min or so before I could open my eye. When I could open my eye she said it was only half up and she took a picture of it and ya as I could see it was mostly closed on left side and my right side was open, for about 20 min after this she said I was still slurring my words and she wanted me to go to doctors but I said no point it's not numb anymore, anyone experience anything like this? Should I be worried?

Yes, please get it checked out...hopefully it is bells palsy (a symptom of lyme) and not something more serious.

I'm not sure how/if the l-lysine was the cause...

I have had a slight bells palsy with lyme...just some tingling/numbness and pain left cheek/jaw area...
It did come and go...it would usually hit me when I laid down at night...and would last until I fell asleep - usually about 10-15 minutes. and was gone in the morning.

But, that severe case - you'd think would last longer...but nothing surprises me with lyme anymore.

It could have been some manifestation of a migraine headache as well. Just the other night I was posting about getting one, and only two nights before that, it just so happened my girl friend got her first migraine (her's is non-Lyme related). It was so bad and scary it put her in the ER. Basically half her body was numb, her speech was slurry, and she couldn't understand what people were saying.

Did you happen to get a headache after your symptoms? Not getting a headache wouldn't rule out a migraine completely, but if you DID get a headache, I'd said their's a fair bet you had a migraine.

Either way, if that happens to you again, I would definitely go to the ER. They would likely want to do a CT scan of your head, and depending, an MRI.
