Happy to help.
The thyroid is the master regulator of the body and makes the gas (thyroid hormone) that fuels every single cell in the body.
An underperforming thyroid lowers immune function and delays healing....among countless other things.
Scroll to the lower part of the link below and you'll see over 300 possible ways our bodies can be affected by hypothyroidism:
hypothyroidmom.com/300-hypothyroidism-symptoms-yes-really/Most mainstream doctors miss hypothyroidism and, I'm sorry to say the same applies to endos. It's all because of the stupid TSH test. Long story not worth telling now unless you really want to read it.
Suffice it to say, taking thyroid hormone replacement is necessary in your case.
Please be aware, though, that treating hypothyroidism isn't like treating a headache....it's a process that can take anywhere from 6 months and usually closer to a year before the dose is optimized. We just can't rush things.
Hopefully, your naturopath is checking your Free T4 and Free T3 levels. I'll gladly show you how to interpret your results if you share them here (with reference ranges). This is how these tests usually look on a lab report
Free T4: T4 or thyroxine, free, direct
Free T3: tri-iodothyronine, free, serum
If the hypothyroidism was caused by Lyme, it should improve/resolve once Lyme is in remission. Unfortunately, hypothyroidism is VERY common - especially for women.
