Update on 4 year old with swollen knee

Well, we've got a rash folks...very close in appearance to my rash with my bullseye a year ago. Dr appointment tomorrow morning.

I just had a feeling when he woke up swollen Wednesday and wouldn't walk for several hours.

Here's the crazy part...we were sitting outside earlier today. Not on grass, just on our front steps. I was combing my hands through his hair (I think part love, part tick check even unconsciously, lol), and what do I find?? Yes, a tick!

I tried to flick it off, my automatic response. The buggar wouldn't budge. No idea if it was engorged or not, it all happen so fast. Told my other kids to get inside NOW, and we were scrambling. Running bathwater, cleaning tweezers...but when I went to remove the tick...it was gone!!!

I lost the tick somewhere between my garage and kitchen...2 floors, so a basement playroom and a flight of stairs involved here, plus the kitchen...I vacuumed, swept, put everyone's clothes in the washer....we've all got light colored clothes on and I'm ready to wage war on this tick if I find it 😡 But, I'm really terrified I won't find it.

Anyways...I had just saw my son had a rash minutes before I found the tick.
So, I'm wondering...was the tick new and trying to attach? Old and detaching? It just weirded me out I found the rash and tick within minutes of each other. But, the swollen knee issue happened on Wednesday. I'm wondering from what tick and when this was caused-was there another tick I didn't see days before?! Could the tick I saw cause a rash so quickly?

My head is swirling with so many thoughts, but mostly I'm overwhelmed at trying to treat my son in addition to my failing treatment. I am *mostly* calm.

PeteZa, do you recall if you got the rash immediately after the bite? Within minutes? I'm so puzzled by this. But I've not been able to find a bite mark from this tick today. This is the second known tick bite in 2 weeks for my family...

I got bit about 2:30 pm and on the shower that evening at 9:00 pm I had the rash. I could have had it sooner, but I did not notice it. And it was on my arm just between my wrist and elbow. There was like a bite mark.

I actually thought it was a spider bite and ignored it. It went away in 3 weeks. I thought that was strange that it lasted so long. So then I thought it was a flea bite and maybe I was allergic (my Mom is).

It went away and I did not put 2 and 2 together until about 2 months from the bite I got swollen knees and then a sore neck, ears ringing swollen throat and a horrific head pain.

Oh wow, we sound similar.

What did the doctor say for your little one?

Seeing the rash concerns me and I hope the doctor is concerned too. As for the new tick, I hope he fell off and is squished into someone's shoe sole.

Hi CD, I need help understanding my bloodwork so I'll post later, it makes zero sense to me but I'd love help with reading it.

My dr was concerned with my numbers at my lady draw and that paired with my symptoms caused her to suggest an iv?!? My numbers were high before I started treatment, and she said she was amazed I was even walking. At my last bloodwork, she said parts of my labs made her think no way I still have Lyme, but then my Lyme numbers weren't coming down??

I do know I've still got symptoms...today is worse than normal, but I guess my sons health has stirred up stress...

Yes, our pedi prescribed 3 weeks of amoxicillin, which is a start....BUT!!! Not good enough. I don't even know what to do 😢
He said he would check my sons joints in 3 weeks, if still swollen run bloodwork, but that 3 weeks should absolutely cure Lyme 😡 If still swollen joints, he'll look for confections and for juvenile arthritis. I'm wondering juvenile arthritis is often misdiagnosed for Lyme?

I feel pressed to find a LLMD for my son right away. Too bad they all are booked through the summer for the most part. Or not even taking new patients.

I would go for the LLMD. Is the pedi even familiar with lyme?
