My Aunt & Uncle were great vegetable gardeners. The first 16byears of my life I was raised on milk & beef from their cows, and veggies from their huge garden. My Aunt got diagnosed w/Parkinsons many years ago and died last year. The last two years of her bedridden illness, my Uncle and cousins researched and researched, looking for a CAUSE that they might possibly find a cure. They found a connection of pesticides & parkinsons. My Uncle used pesticides in his gardens, abundantly! He, however was the gardener, not my Aunt. My uncle is now 90 and in excellent health still(other than normal aging). They raised five kids on that farm, of who are all over 50 now and none are chronically ill....

So its just so weird isnt it???

I had my DNA processed done by 23andme.com and then paid $50(?) to have it analyzed by an online research group (name escapes me for now) that is comprised of a pool of researchers, educators, medical professionals... very cool.

At the time I had my DNA analyzed (over a yr ago) the website had over 200 "programs" you could submit your DNA info into online that would spit out a mini report indicating whether or not you had mutations that had been studied and a description of what that meant. It was FASCINATING.

Needless to say, I submitted my info to most of the programs and received so much info in response that I couldn't actually process or understand it all. But one I zero'd in on was a lyme-specific DNA marker (which I did not have) that did, in fact, provide people an immunity of sorts to the lyme microbe. Very interesting. They've only begun to study it, really.
