Need some help with Mycobutin/Rifabutin dosing info for Bart!

Hi guys, about to start on a new protocol to treat my Bart and Ehrlichia infections.

I've heard good things about Rifabutin [brand name mycobutin] and Minocycline together. Apparently this is becoming a new standard treatment for Bartonella [and Ehrlichia?].

Does anyone know what the standard dosing is? Mycobutin has a half life of 3 days...is it still ok to take 300mg per day then, or will that build up too fast and cause bad side effects such as Neutropenia that I read about?

I'm assuming Minocycline 200mg per day is ok with it as well? So would a good dosing regimen be Mino 200mg per day and Mycobutin 300mg per day or every other day? Thoughts?

Also, has anyone had success personally with this combo or heard stories about success with it? Thanks!

Sorry, I don't know about the Rifabutin dosage.

The Rifampin dose is 600 mg once daily, or 300 mg twice daily. I think the Rifabutin is half that...but you should do a search and check that 300 mg per day is correct.

Minocycline 200 mg daily is standard. I took 100 mg twice daily.

I took Mino with Rifampin...and I tolerated them fairly well...mino was a bit of a challenge - with my throat...seemed to give me some acid reflux and phlegm.

The mino got rid of my head pressure issues...it felt like I had pressure behind my eyes.
It also helped with my 'off balance' symptom.

Also minocycline ad rifampin for me to treat Bart and erlichia. Mino is 100mg twice a day, and rifampin 300mg twice daily as well.

I'm on Rifampin and Doxy take Rif 600mg in AM and Doxy 100mg 1xAM and 1xPM. Still the old tried and true from Dr. Horowitz and apparently still very effective. The other one that's less well known but apparently also coming into more popularity is biaxin 2 pills together in the PM along with rifampin 2 pills together in AM.

There are a few ways to skin the cat I guess.
