It also works on MRSA when paired with doxy. Works on acne bacteria too... Rifampin works on all kinds of bacteria... Even Lyme, erlichia, anaplasma, bartonella... Common bacteria like staph or strep even. But obviously a better choice is amoxicillin for gram positive germs as it will kill them faster.
And it works pretty well too... But there are 2 things about it... It works SLOW... So pretty much whichever infection you are going after if your immune system isn't taking the bacteria out that are stunned, it takes some time to kill. So ya it usually requires longer treatment times, the other issue with it is bacteria are able to develop resistance to it pretty quick so it is recommended to be combined with another antibiotic or another 2 antibiotics to prevent that resistance.
