lyme and bulging discs

shanna - I'm not sure if lyme is associated with bulging discs. I know I have had issues with my spine - mainly my thoracic spine. My nerves were affected by lyme/bart...and my muscles atrophied - mostly on my left spine and pulled things out of kilter. I'm rehabbing it now.

I wouldn't be surprised if the lyme has contributed to your bulging discs.

I still don't know if Lyme and company can cause bulging disks (I have them too), but here are a couple of articles that I found that are very interesting on this subject:

I've had a bad disk for years but I think the lyme colonized that area. It's said that lyme and company like to colonize damaged tissue. Have you never had this problem before the lyme?

I am a firm believer that Lymes or its co-infections is definitely a factor in disc problems. I am a 33 yo how was probably infected in 2009 when I came down with "aseptic" meningitis after which I developed stretch mark rashes (now known to be bartonella) within 1 year I had major back pains and in 2012 had an mri which showed 2 bulging discs and signs of degenerative disc disease.

After speaking with my LLMD when I was diagnosed with Lyme's and co-infections this spring, he said, think about it, degenerative disc disease in a otherwise healthy person with no medical issues? dont you think that is suspicious for it being caused by something?

We do know Lyme's loves joints and wrecks havoc in them. I had a knee scope for a torn miniscus with no injury that I know of 4 years ago and have also had hip issues. I now would be led to believe that it was caused by a bacterial infection that caused joint inflamation with an auto immune response? aka Lyme's. Makes sense to me. I just wish I would have known about Lyme's when I was sick in 2009.

Hope this helps a little It is purely an educated guess at this point for me but I am still looking into more studies and research but it makes sense to me after seeing how many people have joint issues with Lyme's.
