Need advice on eye issue: visual bombardment

I cannot imagine florescent lighting. I think tinted glasses would be good too.

Well, I suggested tinted glasses and that did not go over well with our social gadfly (the teen humiliation factor for now) but he did decide he gets some relief from reading glasses when using his phone and reading and now matter how awful he thinks they look, it's a step above the tinted ones ;)

Yes, it is primarily the long paragraphs that are bothering him although most reading is at the moment. He says he has much less trouble with one sentence than many. He explained it a bit more this morning, saying that it's like all this extra peripheral information is streaming in and it literally hurts his eyes to focus centrally, then the words are too hard to read and even if he reads them, by the time they get into his brain, he forgets them!

The brightness isn't an issue now nor are headaches, just textual bombardment as TiredofLyme's website describes plus too much peripheral stimuli. He can still read his cello music but I think that's because it's not overly complex and he's playing stuff he already knows.

Thank goodness we have an LLNP appt tomorrow and not 3 months from now.

Thanks for the tips. LLNP recommended he go to the optometrist first so we went directly after LLMD appointment today because he is miserable. It turned out he is near-sighted and has slight astigmatism so we bought some glasses and should know in no later than 4 weeks if that solves the problem.

We sure hope so. He felt relief while looking through the lenses so we both feel that this should take care of it. If not she can make bifocals for him. Looking back, it was at this exact time of year and age that I got my first pair of glasses!
