Hi,
I just wanted to check in on this forum and give you all my story about
how I am feeling these days. I never really posted here much, but I did and still occasionally do read the info here alot and I have learned a lot about
being my own advocate for my health and getting better with this disease. Just to skip the background here this is the link to my first post on this site (about
a year ago) explaining my condition:
www.healingwell.com/community/default.aspx?f=30&m=3402068&p=1A few weeks after that post I found a great lyme doctor and was diagnosed with Lyme and Bartonella with the Igenix test and began treatment. Last year I was out of work completely from March-September, for much of that time bedridden and barely functioning enough to even watch TV (vision problems have been one of my main issues). I had so many symptoms that now I even forget some. My company has been awesome to me, I am in sales so I travel a lot, at the time I had moved away to start my career in Ohio, but when I got sick and felt good enough to come back to work in September they created a position for me in the North East, so I am able to live at home and work, and get the treatment I need being close to my lyme doctor in PA.
So getting on to the point of this post, I just wanted too share how I am doing these days, I am living a pretty much almost normal life, and only a year ago I was so sick and thought I was dying many times. I am finally getting my life back. When I returned to work in September I was still very sick, and would have boughts where I felt too sick to work for a few days at a time. But Ever since about
January I have made awesome strides. Its to the point now where most of the time I have the energy to workout 4-5 days hard again in the gym, after a full day at work. I work a demanding job in travel and it has me flying about
1-2 times a month at times as well as driving around 400-500 miles a week, so it has been a delicate balance of making sure I stay on top of treatments and my lyme diet, and then resting when I have the days off to rest. On the weekends I am getting to do normal things again, going to dinner with friends, hanging out with my girlfriend, walking around the mall, going to cities for the weekend.
I do have times where I need to rest again. My only real remaining symptoms seems to be this static in my vision (visual snow) and some occasional headaches, but everything at this point continues to improve very subtly. I am still on oral Antibiotics, in fact I have tried to come off twice now, and the last time some symptoms started to creep back after about
2 weeks off, so I know I am still fighting this and need to keep going. I am still fighting this thing off all the time, but I am living a relatively normal life again.
I started with Direct Iv Ozone in October about
2-3 times a week, now I get it about
1 time a week and try to do rectal Ozone at home with a machine once a day. This has I feel made the biggest progress in my symptoms for me. I also take herbs and many supplements to support my immune system. I detox with Epsom salt baths a few days a week, and use an infrared sauna.
So NO i am not completely healed yet, but I am enjoying my life again and I see the light at the end of the tunnel, I think this last part where your almost healed can be frustrating because I do still have flare ups but I try not to let it get me down. I am not sure how long I have had Lyme, but judging from my symptoms when I was at my worst I would say at least a few years before it went full blown and I became so sick out of no where. So for me to make this much progress in 1 year is awesome and I just wanted to share my story because I know many of you need to hear positive stories about
people healing, I think it does happen often its just a different battle for everyone.
If anyone has any questions I would be happy to answer I will check back, but I just wanted to share my positive story for you guys because I remember logging on here everyday just a year ago when I was so down and so sick thinking I didnt know what was next for me, I know there are many people out there like that still and I want you to know that you can get better its just going to take finding the right treatments that work for you.
