Are these bart scratches?

Hi there,

Can anyone with confirmed bart tell me if these look like bart scratches? I started getting them a lot about a month ago and I was sure they were bart, but they stopped coming for a while. Last night I saw them again. I'm worried I could be doing them in my sleep, but unless I had wolverine's claws while sleeping I don't think I did this. they don't itch and always appear in different spots... If I lightly scratch myself near them it looks very similar (skin seems to go read at slightest irritation).

Are there any other infections/conditions that could cause these?

Primary symptom: Muscle, tendon and bone pain in both arms and hands. Very symmetrical.

I'm still on the fence about galaxy dx testing, I'm really considering it though. If these marks do look like bart, should I just not do testing?

Question for those in Canada: Would a confirmed bartonella test somehow help me get some form of coverage? I'm already in treatment but could definitely use some help.

I don't believe any other infections raise marks like this. Are you in treatment for Bart or anything else?

They definitely could be a Bart rash, I don't know. The first photo looks more like a Bart rash though. They do have a very interesting pattern in the second photo.

The testing is up to you. No matter what lab you use, even Igenex, co-infection testing is less accurate than testing for Lyme almost always. Just a small amount of bacteria/protozoa can make someone very ill, yet not be enough to be picked up by a test.

The thing is, your symptoms aren't typical of Bart. They sometimes come along with other symptoms, but it usually hits the legs/feet if they are limited to just the muscle. tendon and bone pain. Has your doc diagnosed you with Bart? Or are you self treating?

Doc diagnosed me with lyme, babs and bart. However, I feel like they are just throwing antibiotics at me regardless.

I also get a plethora of other symptoms... vibrations, hand/arm tremors, some calf pain, circulation issues in hands, twitching in various areas but mostly legs. However by far the worst symptom is the pain in my arms and hands, especially when doing anything repetitive. In fact, this all started in my right wrist a year ago and slowly spread.

I agree, the first one looks like a Bart rash so the second could be too.
I have bone pain in my arms too. But my shin bone pain is worse. My muscles twitch a lot in my legs too.
Even though your symptoms aren't "typical", it doesn't mean it's not Bartonella. I don't have any "typical" Babesia symptoms but I definitely have it according to multiple tests.

Okay, now I see more of the picture, so to speak, now that you explained more of your symptoms. I would say that they are likely Bart rashes. I too get hand/arm symptoms from Bart.

Vibrations, tremors, twitching - those could be bart symptoms - and the photo does look to me like bart scratches.
I have or had those symptoms, along with circulation issues.

I'm in BC, Canada. I don't think a positive bart test from a lab outside of Canada would help for any disability. Ask your Dr. about a Canadian bartonella test. If there is one, It's probably not a good test...but you may get lucky and test positive.

Other than that, you can try for a diagnosis of something like fibromyalgia, or CFS, if you have symptoms consistent with those...

Before I was diagnosed with bartonella or knew anything about it, I woke up one morning looking as though I'd run naked through the shrubs. I had tiny little scratches all going in the same directions all over my belly and thighs. It was so odd. They didn't hurt at all and healed up quickly. Yours look like a more limited version of what I had, so I'm thinking bartonella is a pretty good guess!

Mustard: these stay around for an hour or two then vanish.

Traveler & Girlie: Thanks so much for the feedback and information! I will inquire about the bartonella test in Canada.

Jenny: That sounds like it probably scared you quite a bit!

Wish I knew for sure what was going on inside, it's really frustrating. :(

I get those...and every time I do something I scar also reddish skin
