Starting Houttuynia and dosing questions

Hello,

I have instructions to start Houttuynia, one capsule at twice a day. 250 mg.

I am so scared of starting anything...is it better to cut tablets in half or would this herb be ok at full dose? I know it's hard to answer possibly.

I am not on antibiotics at the moment, and can feel I need to start on an herbal regime...my awful sore throat and fatigue are hitting me today.

Probably a silly question...but, can one herx on any herb? Or some are more common?

Yes, you need to take a low amount to start.

I would take one capsule and open it up...and take 1/4 of it. You can buy empty capsules...and pour out the capsule on a piece of paper...then divide it into 4 and refill into the caps you buy.
I did it by hand with Rifampin...not easy...

Take 1/4 of one cap once a day.

After a few days, take 1/4 of one cap twice daily.

Few more days, take 1/2 cap once , and 1/4 once.

Few more days, take 1/2 twice daily...
You get the picture.

If you herx...at anytime...then go back to previous dose...for awhile and then try to raise again.


If you're taking tablets...then cut into 4 pieces and do the same dose as above.
