Excellent News

Just wanted to update you all.

I had an up and down winter. Kept trying to train for a marathon with no avail, bc I kept getting run down and sick. Discovered that aerobic exercise was not a good idea. Also, my diet was aweful.

So I pulled myself together, attacked Candida in every possible way (ate anti-candida foods, took anti-candida herbs, went on a strict anti-candida diet - herxed like crazy). Then I took a week of diflucan. took a rest from exercise, stopped the herbs, remained on the diet, and started lifting weights.

I have not been this healthy or strong for as long as I can remember! I have zero symptoms. I am stronger than I ever have been. I also just had my wisdom tooth extracted last week, with no problems whatsoever.

When I was talking about the immune system earlier on in the year on another thread, georgia hunter mentioned the existence of a "threshold" and my situation proves him right.

I think since I was not being careful with my diet, I reached the point where my immune system was weakened and thus I was having symptoms again. I finished lyme treatment in sept 2014. But I had residual issues, mostly due to candida. And so after I vigorously treated candida, I think I brought down the inflammation low enough and that is why I am feeling great. If I continue eating this way ("cheating" very very moderately) and exercising, I think I will be good, but if I start to revert back to cheating every single day like I was, I will reach that "tipping point' again. At least that is my analysis of it.

Nothing like remembering what we feel like sick to help keep us doing the things we need to do to stay healthy! I hope there are no more 'trips down memory lane' with those symptoms for you.

Gives me hope! Thanks for sharing. and most important of all. NOT CHEATING with regard to nutrition. I am really frightened about what I am going to do once my savings are gone, and I can't afford what I am doing to treat myself. I think NOT CHEATING NOW is the best plan of action. When one begins to feel better, cheating days sort of sneak in. Thinking to a camping trip this past weekend, and I ate cookies, cheese, chips, jerky with sugar in it. I think in the future, I need to just remind myself, I had many years of that. Get the body back, then, on rare occasions (rather than several times a week), celebrate. Your story inspired me to ground into that, so thanks for that healing prompt.

Glad you are feeling better. Make sure you check your environment to make sure you aren't being re-exposed to yeast or mold. That was one of my issues a few years back. I had to change out my HVAC and all the duct work under my house because my blood samples continually had fungi in them. After $6800 worth of new air and ducts, my blood no longer has fungi. It's a step closer to getting well. Fungi or mold are an inside disease. We don't normally get them from outside unless you're in the dirt often and if that's the case, you're feeling pretty decent.

thanks georgia - yes, that has been in the back of my mind, actually.

unfortunately cheating for me was every time my kids ate something sweet - so a few cookies in the afternoon, then a bite of ice cream at night, or some cereal with milk in the morning, and then more cookies in the afternoon (cookies are obviously my weakness!!), if I ran out of fresh food I would much on pretzels or chips.......and when my kids brought home the world's finest chocolate bars....forget it I was doomed!!! LOL

GH-did u take anti-fungals?

All I did was eat raw Nigella sativa seeds a few days in a row. I think I titrated up to 10g a day. It's trouble to yeast and fungi.

yes, my sugar cravings were beyond controllable at one point!!

the candida herbs i took were the following (and one at a time, i took one for a few weeks, then switched to another and so on):

Leuricidin (monolaurin)
oil of oregano (ADP Brand is excellent)
Tumeric
Garlic
black seed oil (never got to taking it, but it was on my list - supposed to be very good)

nystatin is for GI candida only.
diflucan is for systemic candida.

I also drank clover tea daily (especially after eating a food I wasn't supposed to eat) - it very good when you have candida. Bone broth is also excellent, but I would almost throw up trying to drink it - I probably should have cooked with it, but I never did LOL

L glutamine is supposed to help a leaky gut (never got around to taking it)

and of course, taking and alternating probiotic brands is a must to restore GI flora
