Now that I'm back on my Strattera, Nuvigil and Cymbalta. My depression, brain fog etc are 90 % gone. And I don't feel bad about needing it because I heard Horowitz say he treats people with these meds as well !!!

I want to encourage everyone to get treated this way as well as what ever protocol you are on. Life is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I woke up the other night with bad neuropathic pain but once I got up and moved around it left, its so weird.

Cymbalta is an SSRI ( antidepressant that helps with pain)
Strattera is an NSRI ( ADD medication Nonstimulant )
Nuvigil is an narcolepsy med Great for getting rid of fatigue

All low side affect profiles

I doubt anyone who has been around this forum for a time will doubt or question or judge how people achieve progress. You just gotta make some and it doesn't matter how you do it. ;)

I used several pharma drugs like those when I was in between treatments. They were the only thing that helped me hold it together. I think they are VERY useful for some, but not necessarily vital for others. We have to find ways to make it through until treatments can lower the bacterial loads enough to do the trick.

Just be careful weaning off of any drugs that are taken during this time - no need to make it harder on ourselves. It took me a while to wean off of one - an antidepressant (Trazodone) that had a heavy side effect of tiredness/sleepiness that I used for sleep. I actually had to wean down as far as I could get (from 300 mgs to 12.5 mgs) and then switch to Ambien and wean off of that. It seemed odd at the time to do it like that, but it worked!! I was stuck at 12.5 mgs for over 6 months, so I had to try something different!

Kct, I'm sure that's a huge relief! I love that we live in a country where we can choose what works best for us - natural, pharma, or a combination. I just had a similar conversation this morning about parenting - I'm so glad I could use some attachment parenting techniques, like babywearing, along with practices that most attachment parenting advocates abhor, like sleep training. I know that's kind of a tangent, but it's so great to figure out what works best for you and not have to apologize for it!

These treatments are a means to ameliorate the devastating damage Chronic Lyme & associated diseases can do, while you continue the long road to suppress the bacteria.
I was pleasantly surprised when the honorable Dr. Horowitz confirmed he treated people with these meds as well as antibiotics to go after the bacteria.

I believe its really important to do both to improve devastating depression, fatigue and brain fog people suffer from. It can save your life, relationships and job.

We have to do what we have to do to survive while we treat these infections, especially if these symptoms are bad enough to interfere with being productive or causing other major issues in one's life. Never feel bad that you used the tools that are there to help you get through when necessary.

Oh really? Maybe I should try them. I'm not really depressed. I just have brain swelling, and fatigue. But they might help.
