Well---
I love the idea that he wrote the book from the perspective of the "science" IDSA bases all of its decisions upon. THAT alone made me want to read it (I read so much about
Buhner's tx that I felt I didn't need to read the book but I'm definitely reading the new one).
And... I disagree with his math on how many "new cases" we have per year. By my math it's more like 690,000. I'll share why soon I hope.
I agree that whatever you're doing isn't working, you gotta figure out why and that often involves trying something else. I agree that he's not clear about
who didn't have success with abx and it's very tough to know why--I am still surprised how many LLMDs/NDs aren't implementing as thorough and comprehensive and holistic a protocol as we all talk about
here. So I think that is a big part of road blocks in healing, including abx protocols.
Herbals are such an undervalued component of health and healing. I can't imagine my future without them. ;) But I know firsthand that they don't solve everything and they aren't always what is needed all the time.
I've shared my disappointing experiences with combo tinctures for lyme and bart in comparison to abx. For me (and many others) abx were a better choice for me at that point in time. They were an easier choice. They were a less stressful choice. At that time, I wouldn't have been able to benefit from anything I had to digest so I'm thankful I could get IV ax. But that "situation" is constantly changing since my body, my microbe load, my impact on it, my other body systems, etc... are constantly changing. I fully expect to shift from abx to herbs at some point just like I did the reverse a couple times. I'm so grateful for the choice.
I'll also say that I think for the people who can handle herbs, which I say are more comprehensively antimicrobial than abx, I think the more comprehensive the healing, to be honest. And I think this matters most for the sickest. In most other people, our immune systems step in and make up that gap. I hope I'm one of the latter but I'll probably be on herbal antimicrobials in some manner for the remainder of my days.
