Antifungal necessary with an anti-malarial?

Curious if you're taking an anti-malarial would you need to take an anti-fungal like Nystatin? That is does an anti-malarial (I'm taking Plaquenil) do the same type of damage to your system that antibiotics do? Thanks.

This is a good question. I would say generally, no. It's not a classic antibiotic that kills good bacteria in the slaughter...

However, treating something like babesia with an antimalarial can impact the gut biome just like any other antimicrobial. So if you're prone to yeast/fungal overgrowth, I'd back up the treatment with some Nystatin.

I think you can use natural antifungals, just in case - e.g. Pau D'Arco, Coconut Oil, Olive Leaf Extract, etc.
