Can someone explain to me the relationship between pots and Lyme. Does Lyme cause pots? If you have pots does it mean you have babesia automatically? Does pots ease once Lyme symptoms ease? Thank you

This is a good question! I am bumping this to the top for more views. I do deal with pots and also think I have Babesia. I am curious too what the connection is. I know these diseases can really mess with the heart. Hawthorne is good for that.

POTS is a malfunctioning autonomic nervous system.

Yes, lyme and/or co-infections can cause POTS. I never had it before lyme. I got it after having untreated lyme for many months.
Mine is fairly mild.

I wouldn't say it means you automatically have Babesia...because Lyme on it's own can cause it.

It should get better with treatment.

I have been checking my heart rate several times a day for many months now...it typically rises when I stand up - to 90 something.

Lately, that is not happening as often...

How where you diagnosed with POTS, one of my LLMD's thinks I have it or am heading toward having it, she didn't really suggest what type of Dr I need to see.

What were your symptoms?

Shanna - I just see the POTS symptoms the same as all my other lyme/bart/babs symptoms - they will get better with treatment.

acs73 - my LLND clinically diagnosed POTS at my initial consult appointment. He saw the venous pooling (redness on the tops of my feet, along with my pulse going high when I stood from sitting.
I didn't even know to ask about it...he just told me I had it.

I find I have trouble when I'm having to bend over - it really tires me out. When I'm vacuuming and have to bend and move something...or pick up something off the floor...I get fatigued.

Thanks Girlie, I will have to talk to my other LLMD when I see her tomorrow. I have really bad heart palpitations especially when I lay down, ran all the tests with the cardiologist and they couldn't find anything functionally wrong with my heart, if I bend over I am always dizzy when I stand back up and sometimes dizzy when I stand up after laying down. It is really crazy that these little bacteria can lead to sooo many problems.

Sometimes Adrenal Fatigue can cause very similar symptoms. I have had pretty bad adrenal fatigue for a few years now. Probably made worse by the Lyme itself. But often times when moving from lying down to standing or from standing to bending down, I get dizzy or light headed. I've never been diagnosed with POTS, but was just assuming that it was related to the adrenal fatigue.

DS has mild POTS along with Lyme, babesia, mycoplasma etc. I googled if it would go away with treatment and the answers I found from others with it and tick diseases was YES, so that was a relief. His started with his tick diseases not before.

DS's breathing and POTS are his main ongoing symptoms lately and at his LLMD appt last week, we were told that it's the central nervous system that is still out of whack - whether due to active disease or just lingering irritation, no one can say for sure. We were told it should eventually improve.

You may already know this, but thought I'd pass it along anyways. My doc said to start taking 300mg of R-Lipoic acid 2x a day for the nerve repair.
