Hello!
I was diagnosed in June with a Lyme positive blood test as well as a Bartonella Co-Infection. The doctor I am seeing prescribed me Bactrim, Bicillin LA and Malarone. (I was also prescribed zithromax which I will be starting on 9/8 after I finish the bactrim.) I never noticed any herxing at all, the only thing I did come to notice was severe depression, mood swings, irritability, things that never would bother me that literally tear my apart inside. Night sweats a few nights before period starts and an occasional night sweat mid cycle. I even told my fiance I didn't even want to be awake/alive. I had to take a few days off of work last week because I just couldn't handle day to day activities, I would cry and get frustrated. It only lasts a few days a month usually right around my menstrual cycle. My mother had to call the dr and inform him of my severe symptoms in which he did cut back the malarone to every other day instead of 2x per day. I know that lyme symptoms worsen with hormone changes so I had assumed that was the issue. But the more I think about
it and how I've felt over the past year or so It could possibly be something hormonal related.
(TMI IS COMING UP, if you dont want to read skip past) I have been bleeding abnormally the past few weeks, I started my period a week early day 22 of my cycle. It was heavier than normal and lasted about
8 days when it usually is only 5. I spotted for a few days following and back came the heavier blood again. I have been bleeding ever since. And I now have been bleeding for over 2 weeks all together. I saw my gynocologist who believes all of the medication is what is screwing me up, she did a pelvic exam, said everything was fine and is sending me for bloodwork around when my next cycle starts to check hormone levels. I am also going back next week to have a pelvic sonogram to check for cysts.
Pretty much, I was just wondering if anyone has had any hormonal issues with lyme or the meds aside from the lyme symptoms being much worse from hormone changes once a month. I am 30 years old and I'm getting married next year and would like to try for children soon after. My mother went through menopause at 39 and my grandmother at 45 so It's making me a tad nervous.
Thanks so much in advance and I'm sorry for the overshare of personal information!
