Sudden chills and feeling very ill but I don't think it is herx

Hello,
I have been doing well with Ceforuxime in my muscle in the morning and Doxy in afternoons, and pulsed Flagyl.

But yesterday about 12am I started feeling like major herx. Pain in lymph nodes, chills, feels like fever but I do not have any significant fever, heart running, feeling like I need to be in bed. Very weak.

There was no need to start herxing suddenly as I have been on that regime for 2 weeks. I am wondering if I had got some virus from my daughters friend who came over and had a bit of cough. But I have no pain or sore throat. MY immune system works totally wrong, it feels. I take loads of supplements to boost it. Fighting Lyme for 3 months now.

Is it some general body infection because of Lyme? Can you get sepsis when fighting Lyme or something like that? I still feel very bad, and I have no idea what to do, if I should rush to a doctor. It would be A and E because it is Saturday tomorrow. And I hate A and E :((((

Thankful for any thoughts on this...

Or maybe I should check Ceforuxime side effects?

Yes, you can start herxing after being on a regimen for 2 weeks. Herxing happens when the toxins build up in your system.

I'm sorry, I don't know what A and E is.

Why don't you back off on the abx for a day or two, and focus on detox...see how you feel?

Thank you so much for your replays... I had no idea you can herx so late in treatment.

I have been having 1g one day and 2 g another day. Quite large quantity of antibiotics. Because before I had almost immediate herx, the next day after antibiotics.

I also read that side effects of that antibiotic can be also chills and fever and also herx for Lyme disease. So very difficult to say what it is.

I also did a quite hard dry brushing of my body before antibiotics so maybe that cause this massive herx. I have so much pain in my lymphs... I know I have active EPV, but I was already so much better. And now I have all this virus feeling again.

A and E is Accident and Emergency department (in hospital). But they usually have no clue what to do with people ill with Lyme so I would like to avoid them.

Does anybody know - can we get sepsis or something similar and serious from Lyme and supressed immune system? Should I go and check it out anyway?

I got three blood culture thinking i had sepsis ..it is good to rule it out ..they only grow it for 3 days ..with nartonella lyme they need to grow it 3 weeks ..so do we have systemic bacterial infection? Well yes will they help probably not but better safe than sorry .you have been using fresh saline and needles for injeftions and cleaning injectiin sites ?

While sepsis can happen with any infection, it's not that common with Lyme. It's the herxing that is the most common causes.

I don't really herx much until 3 weeks into treatments - then it's a doozy if I'm not up to speed with the amount of detoxing my body requires. And that's exactly what this sounds like for you - and as you said, the hospitals don't have a clue what to do with most Lyme patients - no matter what part of the world we are located in!!

Some people won't herx until their second month in treatment, anywhere from 4 - 8 weeks after starting something new or upping a dose.

Thank you everybody!

I am feeling better. I think it was just a massive, horrible herx like 10 flu symptoms together.

Today I just didn't take any drugs or supplemets at all and by evening I feel so much better!

Lyme is so weird, symptoms and feelings changes all the time. Thanks so much for your support, it means a lot that I can come here in the middle of the night and somebody will be around to help. :)))

I am using new needles out of packaging for my injections. But I must admit I have a nurse who is refusing to wash her hands or clean with desinfection or wear gloves... so that is a bit of concern. I probably should change but difficult to find another one.

You could also call the office and tell them - I'm sure they will have a thing or two to say to the nurse about hand washing!! And if they don't have a policy on it (all the hospitals do, so I'm not sure why they wouldn't), you can ask to put in a special request if needed. You, the patient, have a right to have those that are administering medicine and IV supplies/meds have clean hands!! And if they just drove over without latex or some other type of gloves on - then just how would they say that the nurses hands are clean????
