What can I do to help my son? LLMD isn't until end of December

Huddie, I just sent you an email about some of the information you shared with me. I hope you will find some good information and links in that email.

I would say that you can keep him detoxing, and eating well, you can start him on Lysine for his high EBV titers to help bring them back under control. His tests showed he is fighting an infection.

You can slowly start him on some of the supportive herbs at least - like to help support his immune function, as that will help no matter what infection he is fighting, even if it's not Lyme, although some of the things you have shared about his symptoms leads me to think he likely has Lyme and co as well, so plan on him continuing on with Buhner's, unless you two choose abx treatment for him.

Oh, and don't forget the probiotics!

I was so very tired when I first got lyme. Even while I was beginning treatment. I would wake up just to take more herbs. Hubby would leave for work and I would be on the couch and when he got home, I was still there. I had enough energy to barely make dinner.

I cried easily also. Mostly because you feel like you are always right on the edge of crying and you are constantly trying not to. That takes a lot of energy and is exhausting.

I don't want to go against anything Traveler says, so I will defer to her email to you. She will give you good advice.

Just know that I really care and I sure feel sad because I know how hard it is to watch your child hurt and you have no answers.

I am sorry your son is feeling this way. Maybe you can start him on supplements like vitamins and other things like spirulina, green tea, maca and other helpful things. I understand if you don't want him on the herbs of the protocol, cause maybe it might be too much but maybe start these supplements and go from there.

I take spirulina each day in my smoothie but never thought about giving it to him. I'll mix in with some proten powder, maca (have that and forgot about it!) and a little green tea in the morning. Rishi can be purchased on Amazon that's how I get mine. I also ordered the Praying through Lyme book someone mentioned on here by Rebecca someone. Forget her name. It's a VERY comforting book and also on Amazon. I was religious as a girl/teen and still hold my beliefs but am mainly spiritual now. I was hesitant to by the book but to me wherever comfort comes from I will take it. Wishing you lots of comfort.

I know there are a lot of Lyme support groups on Facebook - You should go there to see if you can find one just for teens that he can connect with.

I found Laugh Out Lyme and All Chronic Illnesses on Facebook. There is a funny joke on that board just about every half an hour.

They are pretty funny and it is a good way to laugh during the day.

First of all big hug to you and your son.

Thats pretty much how my son felt last October at the beginning of this. Migraines knocked him out. He tested negative for EBV and lyme back then, but we all know how awful the basic tests are.

My son just was so tired and sick that he pretty much couldn't go to school after November. I thought he must have chronic fatigue and all the cfs support groups said "don't push through the fatigue or it will get worse".

As a parent I have handled all the sickness stuff and my main focus is letting him rest and try to have a bit of fun when he has the energy. As you know social life is everything to teens and impacts them emotionally.

My son was extremely fatigued, I don't know how tired yours is. Sometimes his nerdy friend (who I love like my own) would come over and my son would lay in bed and just watch him play his video games. Does your son have any friends yhat can come over and chill? As close as my son and I are, he really needs friends right now.

For his anxiety, we found a counsellor who gives him tricks for coping. I don't ask what they talk about -my son needs somewhere to vent.

I think kids might have a slight advantage for recovery over adults, not sure why, but he needs to be comforted by the fact that he WILL get better. He will have a wonderful life again and this is just some kind of test. He will finish school, Eva Sapi is some kind of PhD mega brain and had lyme. It's all going to come back. Even if it doesn't come back 100%, that's ok because he will make the most of his 90% healthy body and mind. My son said this disease has made sure he won't be doing hard core drugs because why would you intentionally want to mess up your brain lol?

I August my track and field athlete couldn't walk. No he is going to the gym (1/week). He could barely read/study last spring now he just took a math test and got 93%. Your son will get better too!

In the beginning my son would cry in my arms many nights despairing about his future. We haven't done that for a long time. Now I focus on having a good laugh every day. Whether that's watching The Office reruns with him or something teenage boy inappropriate lol.

I haven't really helped with supplement solutions. The people here know more than I about that. I guess I just wanted to chime in with my .02 worth.
