Surely top pharm companies are looking to create cures for Lyme correct? Where does all the millions $ in research go? I kid you not, a commercial on tv advertised treatment for BED. Binge eating disorder. Are you kidding me? Put the ice cream down and run some laps!

Yet here we are struggling to find which outdated abx "might" work for us. Unbelievable. I pray the true cure is near. confused

I have seen that ad AzeriA.... BED aka IHNC (I have no control).
Unfortunately our society makes up disorders too to sell pharmaceutical.
I read though that dr. Eva Sapi was working with a pharma company to develop some "drug" to treat lyme. I will find that article and link it here.

There is no money on antibiotic treatments for the health care system. On the other hand pharmaceutical companies need to sell antibiotics as well. I personally think the entire antibiotic treatment approach we have for lyme is just plain the wrong way to go. I think herbal medicinal are more on the right road, but they do hit or miss as well.
Lyme is a very complex disease from a very intelligent bacteria. Just admitting that would be the beginning of a new way of thinking in regard of approaching research for a treatment.

Me think that we have done so many advances in cancer treatment. The latest in pancreatic cancer for example is employing some nano technology that delivers chemo treatment to the tumorous area. We have the technology in some areas, but we are at the stone age in others.
Finding a cure IMO is truly wishful thinking and a gigantic task. Forget the funding available for this....and the willingness to work on the disease. If you read about BB behavior and the way this particular spirochete specie moves, morphs and survives inside our bodies, you realize that we have it all wrong.

A lot of articles point at herbals.....I wonder if injecting them via IV would be more effective. I am not a biologist or an MD, but why would be any different?

speaking of cancer...I'm miffed.

Every so often I send a cheque to the Canadian Cancer Society.
I don't have a lot to contribute...but I give a little.

A few days ago, I got a 'package' from them...of course the letter asking for a donation...in addition to a nice little note pad...AND a big honking calculator - at least 6" in length and 5" in width.

How much did that cost? And who uses calculators anyway...we all have them on our phones...

What a waste of good money.

Yes I agree with that...lots of money for cancer research is wasted in marketing to get the events to make the donations....literature, brochures, gala dinners. It is all a big social circle.

I wondered if taking herbals as enemas would be helpful.... ha, ha,ha! Haven't had the courage to experiment.

I think more would be working on a cure if there was more money allotted for Lyme research. As it is almost all the research is privately funded. Sadly and at the same time thank goodness there have been some very very wealthy families effected by this disease. They are responsible for funding the majority of the current research.

Multi-there's always coffee enema's..people who do them think they are effective.

what is this effective abx combo? Also consider that we all need a dr to administer us abx...there is no across the board standard treatment.

The lyme waters are to muddy because of govt influence. The cdc still denies cld does not exist so those of us who have had for a long time dont actially have it we have something else or its all mental. Until the waters are clear progress will be slow. Private docs & patients like the good folks here have made the most progress. Hell the standard symptom list is so beyond incomplete its scary. Hell the govt wants this to go away so bad that when u have lyme without standard symptoms they call it als or ms or fibro or cfs. I could go on for days but u get the idea.

First of all there could never be a cure for everyone suffering from chronic lyme in my opinion. Why? What works for one may not work for another as we are all different.

Then there is big pharma which would be out of business if they came up with a magic pill that would help many. Below is an interesting book about big pharma:

I suggest reading alternative medicine books written by Stephen Buhner "Healing Lyme" (don't know the name of his newest book), Beating Lyme Disease by Dr. David Jernigan, etc.

There is a wealth on information on the internet that one can access for free! Take advantage of that as knowledge is power.

Exactly. Think about how the economical threat ..... if only half of the people who are sick with cancer would decrease about only 25%. Who knows I am sure that many of you like me know people who work in health care....their jobs now could be jeopardized.

Not true, Harvoni cures. It cost $40,000 for one dose, but it cures Hep C. When they find a cure, we pay out the yin yang for it.

OMG there are so many different type of cancer that not one cure could be found...same goes for bacteria. Millions of bacteria and disease lurking around..... I think the pharma companies really have a lot to choose. Too much. They want to find cures or some treatment that helps to be on......
My sister in law was telling me that her friend who is battling breast cancer is on a chemo medicine that cost $36,000.....wow....it is a cost of a house here. A cheap house....

Good poit deejavu. As we know there was a potential cure in fence lizards blood found 20yrs ago and now nothing. Big pharma stops all cures. Govt creates...pharma gets rich. We suffer!
However cannabis has shown to be most effective against cancer and pharma cant touch it.
