Herx or reaction to Rifampin?

My son had his tel. appt with his LLND on October 4. He had been on doxy and azithromycin and bab 2 for two months with good effect. He still had brain fog, fatigue , mild anxiety and I he had more scratches on his back.

The dr. prescribed rifampin 600 mg and azithromycin 500 mg /day. I started my son on rifampin 300 mg. He seemed like he was feeling pretty good then two nights ago he had a massive panic attack, lying in bed, crying, shaking, couldn't breathe. This resolved and he had another one yesterday afternoon.

I haven't given him any meds for two days and I don't know what to do. He said he is feeling a little better today. I emailed the doctor who said to try to stick with it.

Is anyone able to handle rifampin? Should I halve the dose? Or try every other day? I think Buehner said you don't herx with bartonella ?

Maybe I should order some houttonyia? Is this the only other thing that kills bart?

Any suggestions? Has anybody got rid of bartonella?

So maybe I will pare back to 150 mg every other day.

How long did it take for your sister to feel better while on the lyme?

What are you taking now for bart?

My LLND prescribed my Rifampin to start with 300 mg once daily...then after a month to go to 600 mg twice daily.
But, I bought some empty capsules and split the 300 mg capsule and took 150 mg for 4 or 5 days before taking the 300 mg.

I herxed with bartonella meds.

I haven't gotten rid of bart yet - one year treating.
