She had is for years and years. Sounds like the later you are diagnosed the harder it becomes to eradicate. I listened to her story, it was awful, despite the fact that her mom, at that time, took precautions and had the tick tested asap. The tick came back negative for lyme. Again testing is flawed and that tick was not tested for co-infections.
Now if you take a tick to ER the staff does not care and they dismiss it, but they treat you with doxy standard dose (at least here in PA a high endemic area).
The mistake made with that Hillfigher misdiagnosis is normal because the way the entire disease is handled. Even patient who have lyme, do not suspect of lyme. I did not certainly, because I based everything on the common knowledge of what the CDC plublished on lyme.
The truth is the CDC information on lyme is criminal. Their information on lyme and the way is spread is FALSE and a cause for people to under treat lyme and cause people to be infected because they have not sought prompt treatment.
I wish I had money to sue them. In fact I wish we all get together and start a class action law suit..
If the CDC would simply place a warning on website, or have a campaign that warns people that if you find ticks in your body -attached or not- or they were crawling on you, you should seek treatment.
