Bart? Stress? Or plain ole' Lyme?

about two weeks ago (maybe more) I started experiencing heavy feeling in legs (not pain just weird). Then a few times I had long-bone pain on shins and weird feeling in bottom of feet. Again, not painful just weird. All of it completely went way. I had a week and a half of feeling great. Like back to normal great. Now I am under a lot of stress and the leg feeling is back, a little bit of shin feeling and feet stuff but mostly at night.

I do put on an essential oil mixture (for lyme) on my feet legs every night (and some castor oil). I am convinced that this has drawn infection down, and away from my brain.

Can these symptoms be just Lyme or do they definitely sound like Bart? I have LLMD on Wed.

I would love to know the answer to this too! My shin pain has been excruciating lately...was up all night with it. And now my heel bone is affected too; it used to just be my achilles tendon and the tendon on the top of my foot. I suspect Bart from what I've read, but I don't really know.

I'm sure our great mods will come along soon to let us know. I'm sorry you have had this pain for so long. What does your LLMD say? I just got results back from recent blood. I' neg for Bart but positive (I think) for Babs. I go to LLMD this Wednesday so will know a lot more after that and will share.

I experience the same.... I think for me its from bart. But I've been wrong before, and we are all different. Most of my remaining sx are all neuro, and they do get worse with work stress.

Your symptoms COULD BE from Bart, but it's hard to tell for sure as Lyme does cause some foot/leg issues like that. It's really hard to in down every symptom because there is so much overlapping of symptoms with these infections.

Stress is definitely a part of this though.

Also, the infection is throughout your body (although may or may not have crossed the blood brain barrier. That all depends on how permeable the blood brain barrier becomes. These infections don't stay in just one part of the body though.

And yes, Huddie, you are positive for Babesia, and negative for Bart - according to the test - but that doesn't completely rule out Bart.

THANK YOU! That helps a lot. My son and I go to LLMD this Wed. He has contraption and will MT for cos (has them all in vials/slides it's really cool. I guess we will know then. I will try and keep stress to a minimum.

I upped Stephania considerably - like doubled my dose in the past week - can that do anything?

Tickbite and PMM, hope this helped you guys too. I spray magnesium oil on my legs/feet and it helps a lot as does taking Wobynzyme PS.

Oh yeah, doubling a dose can get some people into REAL trouble, so please be careful.

Have you been able to increase your detoxing?

Remember, muscle testing won't always pick up every infection. Sometimes a strong reaction to one or two infections (generally meaning a higher bacterial load) can "cover up" (for lack of better words) another infection. So just watch for signs of other infections, no matter what any testing tells you.

Thanks. Ok will go slower on the Stephania. Just trying to feel a bit stronger so I can add other herbs in, if that logic makes any sense. I am resting, reading and meditating all day to try and eliminate stress. Will see how I do tonight. THANK YOU.

Remember, even if the herbs themselves don't directly kill bacteria, it's helping to strengthen/suppprt the body so it can kill the bacteria.

I tested negative for Bart too. My follow-up is in three weeks; I will see what my dr says but I'm going to insist on being given some tx advice for Bart and neuro-Lyme.

I need help understanding these co-infections. I'm not on abx right now so I get how mine may have appeared but for those of you on abx - if you then get new infections how are the antibiotics helping? Lyme confuses me :)

I did not worry about co-infections too often (well sometimes). I took one baby step at a time - which was so much less stressful for a lyme brain that I was. I focused on lyme. Lyme, bart and babs symptoms can overlap so much that worrying about if I had them or not was useless. No one had a fool proof gauge to test these. Heck, even lyme test is not fool proof.

So I treated lyme and treated lyme and treated lyme. When I say treated lyme, what I really mean is that I made my body stronger. So strong that lyme was weakened and could not reproduce. I strengthened all my systems. Not just my immune system. I strengthened my lymph, digestive and circulatory systems. That is how I healed. It wasn't that I took something and it killed the lyme.

My body was made inhospitable to be a host for lyme. For about the last 2 months I did do andrographis, which is suppose to go for the kill factor. But, I saved it for when my body was strong enough to handle the killer.

Just before doing the andrographis I did Houtt and Crypto just in case I did have bart or babs. I have no idea if I had either, but I did not want to get all that way and find other bacteria. I decided to try and make them move out.

I guess what I am saying is that worry about co-infections is not good. STRESS. Deal with lyme, slow and steady mighty turtle. Step by step. It gets old and tiring and frustrating because it does not happen quickly. Just about the time you feel you will have this forever and ever, you will get a glimmer of wellness.

Patience was my sign. I told CD that I wanted to paint it on my living room wall. I needed to be reminded of it daily. And lyme anxiety and depression really test our patience. Boy do I know this!

I am copying and pasting this to my master word document. GREAT advice. You are very wise and psychic. Yes, I have been worrying about this new cos.

I am going to see what LLMD says but I think for me I'm doing the Beyond Balance/Herbal route. Not sure I want to take more abx. I will build up and follow suit.

What did you do for building? I know we are all unique but...

I think you are doing just about everything okay for now. Stay steady. Did you add in Skullcap? I think that was the next item.

Visualize being well again. Carry happiness in your heart. Laugh at those symptoms. Laugh at the brain fog when you put your car keys in the refrigerator. Eliminate toxic things or anything that makes you feel less important. Let the small stuff go. Hug lots. Nothing feels better than a hug.

Crying! Tears of gratitude this time. A heartfelt thank you.

I so believe in everything you mention and was doing it. Laughing at brain fog - I love it!

I have not added in skullcap yet. Truth be told last week was a bad week and was afraid to try something new that will most likely make me feel bad. I'm still only doing: detox, supplements, great diet, meditation, stepania (but really upped the dosage) and elu/ash.


Extra stress over selling our weekend home. We got an offer and I don't see how I have the energy to move right now. Pack up, etc... My husband and I can't decide. He just called and we may just keep it for now. That will be one big stressor relieved.

Also love carry happiness in your heart.

These have been my most notable recurring symptoms aside from my back. Achilles tendon, shin pain (bone) top of foot/ankle where it meets shin and burning/sharp pain in arches. My tests for Bart henselae and quintana were reported as negative.

I'm going to ask my LLMD if we can have this pain and NOT have Bart. He will also muscle test me with actual BART (he has lyme and all cos in vials/slides). Trav, said many cos tests aren't always accurate. My goal now is to treat my lyme, treat my son and if Bart mt's positive I'll treat that too.

Does you pain ever go away? Mine completely vanishes so that is sort of hopeful.

Huddie, Sorry I'm not going to be any help offering any knowledge or information in response to your question, but I feel like we are living parallel lives. A) We have the kiddos with lyme concern and all that guilt that comes it. B) We have the slight Lyme improvement but the is it Bart too question.

Reading your posts makes me convinced that I should pursue some type of Bart treatment. I'm definitely going to do the herbal (Buhner and Beyond Bart for both Lyme and Bart), but I'm thinking of asking my LLMD for a round of Bart assuming my liver enzymes (which have always been elevated) don't preclude that.

I was diagnosed and treated for Lyme quickly (within weeks of any tick/exposure). This was also true of my 7 family members regardless of whether they tested positive (5 of them ultimately did) or not. For some reason, I do feel better but I have certain symptoms that linger. Mostly arthritis and joint pain, maybe a slight headache or neck ache which I cannot be sure is Lyme-related or lack of sleep related - I have small children who do not always sleep well). Throughout I have had certain Bart symptoms - like recurring pink eye, swollen lymph nodes, burning soles, burning forearms, but they all seemingly resolved within a day or two and I have had them for weeks. The only Bart-like symptom I think I still might have is cold feet at night and lack of appetite (not complaining bc I had a good 50lbs to lose after 3 babies in 4 years).

I know I'm still in the acute phase and I feel like I need to go after these diseases with all I've got now to reduce any regret or guilt down the road.

Anyhow, this was more about me than you, but just want to say I totally sympathize with where you are.

With the symptom overlaps that happen with these infections, I think it's quite difficult for anyone to say for sure that someone doesn't have this one, or only has that one for sure. Neuro Lyme can cause quite a bit of pain, just like Bart. The good news? If your pain has gone away, and you have only targeted Lyme so far, then it's likely Neuro Lyme that was causing it.

With the experience that I had personally, and what I've watched others go through, here is what I believe needs to happen for many of us to heal:

a)Detoxing - gene mutations, mold exposure and multiple tick-borne infections can all prevent us from detoxing well, but we must be able to get those toxins out of our bodies. We need to detox by several means daily, as detoxing has a cumulative effect - the more you do, the better your body is at keeping those toxins flowing.

But remember, there is such a thing as over detoxing, which can bring on a herx as well. There's a very careful balance we each must find with treatment and detoxing. Most of our toxins are in our tissues/organs, not in our bloodstream, so we have to do methods that will help 'release them' and move them into our bloodstream so they can be detoxed out. Over detoxing is when we move more toxins into the bloodstream than can easily be detoxed out by our body. So there's a careful balance that we must maintain between killing bacteria (which creates more toxins) and detoxing so that we can still be functional.This is why we suggest adding in more detoxing methods slowly (no more than 1 new routine every 3 - 5 days), and stop adding in more when you seem to be feeling okay or good.
b)Supporting the body functions/systems. We have to have the body working at it's peak performance to heal from something as devastating as these infections. Supporting any gland, organ, body system that is struggling will allow the body to switch it's 'concentration' from just trying to function over to healing.

c) Raise the immune function. Many legitimate Lyme researchers now believe that it's the lowered immune function that determines who gets chronic Lyme and who heals right away. We already know that Lyme lowers the immune function and when a person has Bartonella and/or Babesia, the immune function is further compromised, so to heal we must raise our immune function.

d) Lastly, oddly enough, are anti-infective​ (abx. herbs, etc.)​ treatments. Many of us have experienced treatment failures​ or set backs​, so we can see that the treatments aren't the only thing we need to have - there has to be more to the equation, but anti-infective treatments are very important!! Lyme bacteria are one of the most complicated bacteria! ​Although it takes only hours or days for most bacteria to replicate, Lyme bacteria only replicates in the body every few weeks.​
