Symptoms returned less than 24 hours after stopping abx?

So my doctor has me on a 4 days on/3 days off pulsing schedule. Currently taking Rifabutin, Minocycline and Bactrim the 4 days on and stopping for 3 days off. I'm on Plaquenil daily. So went through my first round of 4 days and I took last abx dose last night. Less than 24 hours later my symptoms are returning with a vengeance. I mean less than 24 hours later and I'm already getting whacked? Anyone else run into this?

Is my bacterial load too high? Is my immune system basically doing nothing to control these little ******s? I have Lyme, Babs and Bartonella who knows what else. Thanks for any thoughts.

Not just one symptom..but several returning?


Has this happened on your previous protocols, too?
Are you sure it's not a herx....from the previous 4 days of abx?

Plaquinil may have anti babs and anti cyst but it has a real long half life ,though it may inhibit the efflux pump ,we know it is immunosuppressive. .its why rhuemys love it for lupus etc...

If you are trying to tone your immune sx id try low dose naltrexone before that stuff...if its babs id try alinia or mepron more so too...it can take weeks to clear from your system. ..

what liver protecting stuff are you doin? Does rifabutin speed up stuff like rifampin? I am also on a pulse ..some time i cant wait for my roceph cuz i know it will encyst i will get a day of relief before herx sauce ...

its bart, symptom returned very fast, after not full cure.
for the treatment of Bart, I would not use the pulse protocols, Bart develops resistance

Agree with Alex_s... Most likely Bart or a BLO. They replicate much faster than Babs, and Lyme has a much longer cycle and don't morph out of cyst form that fast.

Can't comment on the pulse vs not to pulse... I've been pulsing two week on, two week off for awhile and feel the same most of the time on or off ABX. I was always in the "hit em hard" camp.

thanks everyone my symptoms never entirely go away they wax and wane and there's no discernible pattern to when this happens. i think its a foregone conclusion that i'm dealing with BLO. there's also differences of opinion on whether you can pulse for BLO infections. Dr. J aka "The Bart Guru" pulses Bart meds his thinking is you need to let the immune system also mount a defense against them not just killing meds.

I'm going to try the pulse thing for a bit and see how it goes. I also need to introduce my daily rifing as well which i'll do daily. Pulsing current regimen i like because i'm essentially on 4 different abx (bactrim is 2 abx in one) and that's a lot on the system so taking a few days break every week seems to make sense but if i don't make progress i'll have to mix it up.

I don't think that is the known to be true.

THE Dr. J. pulses all his protocols..including bart, along with many others'.

Dr. J. has been pulsing for several years now with good results.

I agree with you about pulsing. But the bart 'guru' is Dr. M. lol.
But, it is Dr. J. who talks about allowing the immune system to kick in when you pulse.

I think the term that is being used now is 'persistence' not 'resistance'.
