This is an issue I struggle with almost daily. My LLMD believes in single abx therapy. First month, I was on Ceftin, then off all abx for almost a month, then put on Cefdinir (generic Omnicef) for a month which I just finished. I do have issues with my LLMD and have thought about seeking a second opinion - mostly because this does not seem like the correct protocol to be on with chronic Lyme (according to what others are on). But I have seen some improvements. I do worry, though, that because this is not aggressive, that I will take longer to heal and/or allow the disease to do more damage in the long run. It's all so confusing.
It's well-known that more than one antibiotic is needed to treat these infections.
Are you doing an herbal approach alongside?
I think you are wise to seek a second opinion. To those who use multiple ABS along with or without herbs, MY question is how on Earth do you get your prescript
ions? Doctors I see here in Southern California do ONE 28 day course of antibiotics and kiss me goodbye FOREVER, door closed, don't call us, we'll call YOU....Wish I could get more ABX since it seems I will NEVER get better so considering stopping ALL treatment so my wife can stop wasting $500-$800 per month on useless Herbs. IF the herbs are not ever going to beat this alone. You need a LL Dr. whether it's an MD or a ND - someone who is knowledgeable and educated about
lyme disease...someone who knows that a few weeks of abx will not be enough.
Many people DO heal on herbs alone, Mike.
I have to say though, I am having an issue with getting anti-malarial pharma - because my LLND can not prescribe them (not sure why - but it's not something they are licensed to do)
So, that's why I have been doing Artemisinin...and will be adding cryptolepis, sida, alchornea back in to my protocol.
I thought about
ordering them online - (without a prescript
ion) - but even though I've found many abx for lyme and co's - I can't find any to treat babesia.
