ChickNorris - were you referring to his stomach bleed? If so, he can't have any anti-inflammatories - although we did get him on turmeric and that helps him. He's beat up his body so badly that he now requires at least one knee replacement, his ankle will have to be operated on soon as well (it's collapsing into his already extremely flat feet) and back surgery soon also. He's a mess, even without having had Lyme once! LOL! But, we make it all work. We live a laidback lifestyle, do what we can when we can, and concentrate on being kind to one another.
And yes, that means no organ donation AND no blood donation for the rest of our lives. The bacteria is almost never actually removed from the body - instead, the immune system keeps it under control, so if someone who has received immune suppressant therapy for any reason gets our blood or an organ from someone with Lyme, they too will have these infections. That's something that nearly everyone would want to avoid - knowingly passing these infections on to others.
Huddie - You are just much too kind!
There is sooo much that I still don't know!! But, I'm working on that too. LOL!
I'll be doing LOTS of studying (I hope! Either that or chasing the nurses and doctors around the hospital!! Ha ha ha!) next week in order to learn more about
herbs.
When the mobile blood donation vehicle comes around and people in the store remind us, I take the time to explain that with having had Lyme, I can no longer donate blood and explain why. This gives me an opportunity to plant a seed or extend others (cashier and others standing near me) education on these infections.
I've had people ask me about
this and other aspects of Lyme because I speak up and also have a "Lyme green" ribbon tied to my purse, with the words "Lyme KILLS" on one side and "Ask me about
Lyme" on the other side. Just trying to do my part and spread awareness in a state that denies Lyme is even here.
