I took two last night, mostly because I needed sleep desperately (sleep has been rough between nerve/bone pain in my shins and insomnia. Plus, my landlord is now doing construction and I had to listen to drills, hammering, loud music, etc all weekend. My nerves were shot.) It is listed as a detox method, and I was told that it helps with tinnitus as well.
It did help with sleeping, although I do still feel pretty sluggish and spacey lol (I've always been really sensitive to anything that can cause drowsiness.) I woke up a few times during the night with pain, but was really too drowsy and fell back to sleep right away. Makes me think I should really do something to help me sleep.
Does anyone have a good recommendation for a sleep aid? Not looking for anything addictive or prescribed; something natural.
Also, does anyone else use Benadryl as a detox? I'm pretty sure I'm still herxing, as it did help with the tinnitus and nerve pain in my teeth. Not sure I really like the thought of using it other than sporadically.

Where did you see benadryl listed as a detox method?
While it can help with Neuro issues (calms the CNS), my understanding is it should not be used long term on a daily or nearly daily basis.
For sleep, you can try adding one of these things at a time, as it usually takes a combination of things, but not all of these work for everyone:
Valerian
Magnesium
Melatonin
Tryptophan
Chamomile tea, or other teas for "bedtime". I like Celestial Seasonings "Sleepy time", hubby prefers Bigelow's "Sweet Dreams"
Some find help with passion flower
L-theanine
And I'm sure there are others as well.

Trav, it's listed on the tiredoflyme detox list. I carry it in case of an "emergency" ie, herxing at work. I took it last night for the first time for Lyme stuff. I desperately need to get this neuro stuff under control.

I know...weird, right? It said for herx induced headaches. I thought it could be used for tinnitus, but I think I got that confused with Claritin ugh

Well, from my own research, I know that it's a CNS depressant.

This means that if you have central nervous system symptoms Benadryl MAY help ease those symptoms.
But, I have never read anywhere on how it may help a person detox, only that it depresses the CNS - which us huge when you CNS is on overdrive.

I took some benadryl last night for sleep.
When my sleep issues were out of hand I used something I found that was suggested by Stephen Buhner.
Cannabis 1 hr. before bedtime
liquid melatonin under the tongue
benadryl
When I researched benadryl, I opted for substituting other things.
Tryptophan, Valerian, Theanine
What he now recommends is the herb Ashawanga before bedtime.
I have some, but just can't seem to remember to fix it with some chamomile tea.

I took benedryl last night too. I've been trying to back off of it though. I have found Best Rest by Pure Encapsulations to be a good sleep aid. More gentle and less grogginess. I really now only take benedryl if I have a migraine. And I get away with just taking one.
