TMJ or is Houttuynia working?

I started houttuynia last week to see if I do indeed have Bart. I increased slowly to 3-4 drops a day because the initial 1-2 drops had no effect. Over the past four days, I've noticed these symptoms:

-TMJ "episode" where my left ear, jaw (the joint and underneath), and neck have a sharp ache and it hurts to open my mouth or even talk. It lasts about an hour or two.

The only thing that helps is Activated Charcoal. Massaging the area helps slightly.

Not sure if it's from Lyme affecting muscle/joint or if houttuynia could be stirring up something.

Should I stop the houttuynia for a day or two?

Personally, I would take it as a sign that the Houttuynia is hitting something since the charcoal works to ease the symptoms.

Should I stop it, continue with same dosage, or increase? These head symptoms are awful and driving me nuts!

You should try holding steady with the dose of houttuynia and increase your detoxing to see if that controls the pain/discomfort. If not, reduce the dose of houttuynia slightly (by a drop or two) and continue with the increased detoxing.

The main thing we need to be concerned with is controlling the herx. If the pain/discomfort gets to be just too much to handle, then decrease your dosage slightly and continue detoxing more to help control the pain/discomfort.

I kept my same dose of houttuynia, upped my dandelion and pinella, added in Apple Cider Vinegar today and took a meloxicam pill. So far, so good.

The houttuynia, for me, hits up my jaws, and ears BIG TIME! Good job with the detoxing. Nice to be able to learn from your journey.

Houtt does exactly the same to me, same reaction and hits just the same spots, TMJ/jaw ears and that joint
you mention.

Wow...it's crazy that we all get the same reaction! I'm going to add more detoxing and add sida acuta next week.

Thanks Traveler! It's getting easier and not as overwhelming....thanks to all of you on here!! I was so skeptical of herbs in the beginning, but I am definitely a believer now.

Of course, it's also easier to make decisions when you get just a little reprieve from pain! turn

For many years I had a cracking on my right side jaw joint (next to the ear) when opening my mouth fully (like for eating an apple) but no pain - before Lyme infection. When my Lyme symptoms reappeared last month that place became painful when trying to eat an apple. I started many Buhner herbs at full doses. I noticed that this pain has gone away the last 10 days and I can fully open my mouth. But I started Houttuynia last Sunday 1,5 gr/d concentrated powder 1:5. Felt a neck pain here a headache there. But my jaws have not deteriorated.
