Back On Doxy for just 7 days

Spoke to IDS office on Wednesday and got blown off after being told my test taken on this past Monday (after a week off from taking a 21 day cycle of Doxy) was negative and therefore no Doxy without an appointment. Made the dumb appt. for next Tuesday.

THEN...was so physically weak and defeated yesterday (Thursday), I called the office back and got very tough with whoever answered and told them: I can not afford to "Play THESE LYME GAMES!!!" and "Even though the test was negative, I had the bullseye and he said I have 'early Lyme Disease' based on that and my symptoms, and I am still really sick". She put me on the phone with "his nurse" and I had to tell HER....the same exact thing. When I told her I had finished the 21 days of Doxy a week and a half ago, she said: " NO - 28 DAYS! " I had to explain that I only had 21 days from the ER - and she said: "OH - well WE recommend 28 days."

She put me on hold and came back to say that she'd call in "Enough to cover you 'til your appointment on Tuesday - but that is IT. You have to be seen and you have to KEEP that appointment. We ARE NOT going to keep prescribing anything without you being seen." I told her that he did not even examine me last time "but OK". So they called in 7 days of Doxy which I started this morning so it took me 3 doses to start herxing the first time. Happy Herxin' Holidays to ALL!

dismissed 28 days of doxy is probably not going to do it esp if you're herxing at day 21. you may want to start looking for a lyme literate doctor to treat you properly. earlier the better when trying to eradicate lyme in acute cases.

I do have someone to go with me.- my disabled husband. Thank you julymorning. I will be on here later, and over these holidays - for sure. I am on 1mg of Alprazolam ER bid for 15 years and 30mgs of Cymbalta as well. I'll explain more later - but I will be reherxing by tomorrow night.

@dismissed - you can also supplement with some herbs - Cat's Claw, Japanese Knotweed etc. Check Buhner's protocol.

Thanks Everyone - for all your caring, suggestions, and experience. Just a coupla little details on my situation: I have a back story (pre this go 'round with the tick bite, bullseye, symptoms, etc. of November 22nd) where there was suspected 30 years of undiagnosed, Chronic Lyme Disease. Also, I am allergic to many abx - with Levaquin being one that made me go almost entirely crippled the very first time I took it, about ten years back for something I can't even remember. Also, another complication I face is - I wound up getting C-Diff this past April, from being on 3 different ABX's in the space of 4 weeks...so I am always worried that the C-Diff will kick back up, ANY TIME I take abx. It's like walking a tightrope. However, the Doxy seems different and it is not one I have 'a past" with.
My insurance DOES cover abx, but LLMD situation around here is just as sparse as it is in other states/regions and they don't take the Medicare. The IDS situation is fairly sparse too and they are not inclined to even consider Chronic Lyme if the tests read negative, or if past tests do as well. I am glad I have found all of YOU...and
