Lyme relapse, LLMD, holistic practitioner update

I have missed you all. Thanks for asking after me. Feeling lots of gratitude. Been lying low. Too much head pain to write/think. Better today.

Two weeks ago I started experiencing lots of head pain, word retrieval issues/word mixing. Scary. Last Monday went to LLMD. Confirmed that Lyme has relapsed. Sending me for Spect scan. Will get that next week. Wants me to continue my herbs and the Jernigan Borrelogen (sp?) that I started.

Last night he emailed to say he wants me on Doxcy 100 mg. 2x a day to bring down bacteria load.

QUESTION: I was on that from July-September. I could barely function. He knows I can't tolerate abx. so I think he is suggesting one that he knows I got through.

I read over and over on here how mono-therapy does not work. I also read that unless it's a new bite, abx. don't really work. [I thought I had a new bite but from all testing LLME is sure I was re-infected].

Bottom line: scared that I was under treating and this some how went to my brain.

Thursday went to the holistic practitioner that I see. I told her nothing. She scanned me and told me that I have a circulation problem. Oxygen/blood not getting to brain sufficiently. She made a homeopathic 'brain' tablet. Day two and already seems to be helping. She also saw fungal issues in intestines. Lovely.

Which herb are good for circulation to brain? Clearly lyme related since I never had it before.

She also saw Bartonella but said it is old not active. Not sure what to do about that. Makes sense given my mood swings and nerves like a hummingbird.

My son: On two week abx. to rest his liver and to see what symptoms come up. He said two weeks will not make a difference in bacteria. Liver more important or he won't be able to keep taking more meds. He is on BB-1, Babs-1, Tox-Ease. He seems to have more energy and seems instantly happier. He has lost so much weight since the abx- he is now 88 lbs!

School agreed that my son should stay home and repeat the year. Not sure how I will make it through.

That's my update. Sorry so wordy. Advice/thoughts on how to proceed - welcome.

Huddy - Could you start with 100 mg once daily...for several days...then increase to 100mg twice daily?

mono therapy is not recommended....except for a new tick bite...BUT, maybe with herbals along with it, it may help it to be effective.

And...who knows - maybe this time around you will tolerate it better...and be able to increase...AND...in a few months maybe even add a second one.

Has your LLMD mentioned maybe trying a different one? Amoxy is one that is well tolerated...and maybe you could get the bacterial load down some...and then switch to doxy or mino.

Antibiotics can work for new infections...or chronic lyme.

Minocycline is good for brain penetration....you could also give that one a try...I found it easier on the tummy (although it did bother my esophagus...just remembering that now) - but gave me head side effects when I first started it...so started it at half dose of 100 mg daily before going to twice daily dosing.

Girlie, Thank you. I suppose he thinks Doxcy. + herbs will help lower bacteria. Already have head pain and dizzy so think I will stand down on the Mino. for now. I have never been good with Amoxicillin but Lyme is a different beast.

I'm torn. I don't want to take abx. but I don't want to take years to heal. I also don't want to deteriorate, then have to take abx. and regret not taking them NOW. But I am just not convinced that they do more good than harm. For me personally, not a judgement at all.

Blueberry, Thank you. Practitioner did mention Gingko. She wrote down a supplement (that has Gingko in it). I will post it Tuesday. Don't have my notes with me.

I remember an herb being discussed that helps with circulation. Paging Trav, paging Trav, come in Trav...

It really is your choice whether to do abx or herbs.

Maybe give yourself a set amount of time for these abx...and if you don't see any results...or find they're too hard on your body...you can switch to herbs only.

...maybe 2 months? reassess then? then, just try to be comfortable with your decision...knowing there is an end date when you will reassess.

Good advice Girlie. Two months on abx is an eternity in my world!

I took a break from all herbs for a few days, and started back today at the last dosage. I am not quite at full dose (according to the bottle from sagewoman) on the Milk Thistle, and I have been a little concerned that my eye sclera is not white any more. I can't tell if they're slightly blood shot or jaundiced. My friend says he agrees.

I should probably back off the Kudzu until after I get a liver test done. My wonderful, caring doctor has refused to order any blood work at all since last March.

That would not sit well with me. Luckily I have an LLMD who has seen it all. He really is very laid back when I sort of demand certain tests for my son and myself.

I thought I was reminding him that it' had been awhile since my last labs, and did he want to order one for me? That was last Fall, 7 months since the last. She said the Dr. said "no, you're fine".

Every month I go in to pick up a refill, and still no word from him. I intend on calling tomorrow again. I would have called this week, but we got that ice storm.

But this is your thread. Are you taking enough Liver support and getting check ups to use Kudzu?

Huddie buhner also says antibiotics can be very good for Lyme and co and lists which ones to use for each infection. But he also says that you can use herbs only but when patients have come on his site saying all abx are bad he tells them not so and gives them recommendations if he thinks they need it. I think the doxy could be a good idea to lower the bacterial load so that u can get back on your herbs.

Doxy will only get it to encyst .like pause on a bad video game and will not help fungal yeast issues in gut ..i agree with bbm on ginko however i read 8t can thin the blood too much ...

its called hypoperfusion(t1 and t2 ) .many with lyme get it ..i think the spect scan will show this ...can you see dr elena frid ? However she feels infection related auto immune encephalitis need tx with ivig ...she is in ny ..very stylish

huddie the only thing to help my my brain fog and my lack of perfusion had gotten so bad it manefested as livedo reticulis ...was bee venom .

treating syptoms and homeopathy is great (i am using some now for coinfections ) but unless you go after the root systemically . I believe you are dancing with a dangerous partner..

have you looked into the gb 4000 ..watched the ted talks with anthony holland ?
Dan bergy got his chrohns cured and his wife in remission with that machine ..he said babesia fell very easily (your son)...if you are going to do wholeistic alternative treatments then embrace them .quit wasting money and time with western docs(great for diagnostic)
The western fence lizard is immune to lyme ...however fence is not a good place for us ..

doxy made my step dad brain fog worse ..dr is treating him for babesia empircally ...my blood stains and microscopy showed mine ...have you done dna connexions test ?

So sorry for your relapse. Were you well and then got symptoms again?

This is still my fear and it has been 10 months well for me.....
