Thank you Girlie.
No, melatonin didn't work for me. I think because for me it's not simply I need to be more "sleepy". For me it's more anxiety and can't shut my brain off, issue. The part that sucks sometimes is I AM sleepy. But can't relax and turn off the brain.
Passion flower and St. John's wort are both on my radar but I want to try the passion flower first. St. Johns kind of helps with sleep by relieving the feeling of depression (not something I deal with). One of the herbs Traveler recommends is Tryptophan.
Personally, I turn the tv on something boring and that does the trick. I'm pretty bad about
going to bed even if I'm nodding off at the keyboard.
I'm guessing it's that human connection I don't want to lose, long after everyone else has gone to bed....so the tv does the trick, plus it makes it impossible for me to think too much.I do the tv trick for the exact same reasons. I do white noise. I do soft calm sleep aid music. They all help collectively to a certain extent. 6 hours of sleep is my average, but I'm hoping to get it to the healthier 8+ hours. And then of course the quality of sleep, which is not the same as just the number of hours.
