I have known (as well as many others on this forum) about
GMO foods for many years now and yes, it is scary! On the other side of the coin I don't believe GMO food consumption is the entire reason why people are sick. I believe it's one of the many facets. There are other facets to why people get sick or stay sick but that's another long and complicated post.
That said there are things people CAN do about
GMO foods. One is learning how to read labels. For instance the prefix ‘9’ in front of a 4-digit standard PLU (Price Look Up) code is used to identify organically grown items, however, to be sure the item is a certified organic product, one should look for the USDA organic seal on the product. All these codes on labels mean something, learn how to read them so you know what to avoid.
What I also do is buy from local farmers who I know grow veggies and fruit organically (I'm lucky because I live in a state where there are plenty of farmers who are smart about
GMO).
