ERMI testing for mold and mycotoxins

Hi guys. For those of you who did do this testing, how many rooms in your home did you do? These are pretty expensive. I'm thinking about having one done on each floor of the house. I'm thinking that if I'm doing a dust sample if something is in the sample, it wouldnt be something different in each bedroom unless there was evident water damage which there isn't.

Thoughts? Or should I just do 1 room in the home and perhaps the laundry room because it can get pretty dusty in there.

I can't see there being a difference in the bedrooms, unless they share a wall with a room that has a water source (laundry room, bathroom or kitchen). That might make a difference if there is a leak or condensation inside the wall.

should have added air conditioner units

And plumbing lines? If those travel between the walls or under the house. All potential water sources.

That's a great idea to do the air/heat unit. I'll get a dust sample from the filter.

Krimpet - I would want my bedroom tested...as that is the one room in my house that I spend generally 8 hours a day (night) in.

I move around in the other rooms...though I seem to be stuck on this chair in the family room sometimes...lol.

I actually probably did too many rooms on one dust cloth. I swabbed bedroom, LR, Kitchen, master bath. I did not do second floor. Certain mold strains may point to possible HVAC mold. I can't remember which one....

Recently I did a petri dish by mold armor too. I taped it to hvac vent for 10 minutes. It grew 2 types of mold - but I think they are more allergen type molds. It was maybe $10 for the dish on amazon and $40 for the lab analysis. You can also set it out in the open air for an hour and see what it grows. Kinda cool.

Girlie I'm definitely doing my bedroom.

Probably the kitchen. They say to collect the dust on top of the fridge as this is a place where most don't dust frequently.

And more than likely the HVAC. I figure if it's something in the system, then it's blowing throughout the house. K07 thanks for the tidbit.

K07 and Mustard Seed why did you do the several room testing together?
