"Serum levels (Doxy) are reduced approximately 20% in nonfasted
subjects. Differences between fasting and nonfasting
levels were significant during the first 4h after dosing,
but not at later times."
There is a chart enclosed (fig2) which shows serum levels with type of food versus fasted state.
aac.asm.org/content/11/3/462.full.pdfEven the amount of water in a fasted state has some effect.
Risk outweighs reward by limiting the amount of water as if the pill doesnt travel down the esophagus it can cause serious harm.
If you can handle it without food then absorption is highest but if you avoid nausea then by all means take it with food.
It appears fats significantly limit Doxy absorption so dont take it with milk.
Others as well as myself have experienced less nausea after the 5th day of Doxy with or without food.
Probiotics do help but I am saving the best ones for post antibiotic use due to cost.
I found that I can reduce expense by adding a smaller amount of a quality probiotic to a mixture of resistant starch combined with vegetable powders.
This supports and promotes healthy bacterial growth while saving money as we seem to need a lot of both for successful treatment.
I do eat yogurt and find it easy to mix plaintain flour and Starwest Botanicals Organic Green Powder blend and some wheat grass powder to yogurt. This is a bit easier to eat with yogurt as opposed to mixed with water if you can tolerate yogurt.
It appears the product you mentioned has 6 different strains and 20 billion CFU per tablet.
