Regenexx is super expensive but it would be my first option rather than a knee replacement.

I wish I would win the lotto.... guess I have to play first.

There's a Dr. in my Province who does the PRP for knees.

Unfortunately he practices 'outside' of our health care plan. He has treated many people for their osteoarthritic knees.

Girlie, we have a Regenexx somewhat close by (an hour drive) and it was 5 grand for 1 knee and no guarantee it will work.

I haven't read up on the Regenexx - that goes one step further than the PRP.

Where are they extracting the stem cells from? does it say in the article?

Yes - from the patient...but was wondering where....if it's an invasive procedure to harvest them.

That looks amazing. Seems they can now get stem cells via aspiration and put them back in a day... if my knees ever fail again, I hope this is even more mainstream!!!

I had ACI and AMZ surgeries to fix grade 4 articular tears on my kneecap 10 years ago. I hurt them playing softball in college. They had to do surgery to harvest cartilage for stem cells, then they had to do open surgery to do the repair and insert the liquid stem cells to grow. It was a painful 2 year rehab with 3 months on crutches non weight bearing. The results have been utterly amazing though ... if I ever have issues again, it's awesome to know there may be something so simple out there!

3HumpedCamel this is what I was told was the procedure from Regenexx. That they take your blood, spin it round and round and then put it into the knees.

I would love to be able to afford this!

I think that is the PRP?

Doesn't the stem cell procedure involve bone marrow - from the hip?

Still better than a knee replacement...by a long shot!
