Well, you may need more than just turmeric, but that's a good place to start. I take large doses - 4,000 mgs 3 times a day, but I deal with a lot of inflammation.
Turmeric can have pepperine (black pepper extract) to be more effective.
If you prefer to not use the pepperine (it thins the blood, so it can't be used in my house because my hubby has blood issues and takes it too), you can also pair it with ginger or Bromelain. When I was in a ton of pain, I used turmeric, ginger and bromelain and it helped more than I expected, but the results did take a few weeks to notice.
