As the bacteria die, they put out toxins -these toxins do accumulate, so we can have a type of "herx" even before we start treatment, simply because our body has had a build up of toxins. Sometimes this is because we have done something that we were aware would cause die off (basically because we didn't understand what we had), or from other things. Sometimes it's a symptom flare though.
I would say that since you are in treatment, and you don't detox a lot, it was likely a herx though. Do you know if you have any of the gene mutations that make it harder for your body to detox (MTHFR and such)? If so, this will require more strategic detoxing and possibly a few different supplements to help your body make those 'connections' better.
I would first encourage you to increase your detoxing though, as you aren't doing a lot. We do have some great suggestions in our "New to Lyme" thread, and many of us use the suggestions on this page as well:
www.tiredoflyme.com/detox-methods. Also, we will be happy to discuss any of these more with you!
Also, are you taking probiotics? This will be necessary in order to keep not only fungal/yeast infections at bay, but will make your digestive system happier too. Most of us have to use 'large' amounts, around 50,000 'units' at least once a day. You can find some good information about
probiotics in our New to Lyme thread as well.
Which infections did you have the first time around?
