Natural tick repellent

A doctor told me about this all natural product to repel ticks so wanted to share. Been debating with my wife whether we use this or something with DEET. Personally I think we're going with DEET cause the risk of getting this horrible illness for your entire life is outweighing the potential impact of DEET.

I am going to use DEET. I have tried all the "organic" ones that my health food store has and they work when first applied, but they do not last long. We have our first case of West Nile a hour from my house. Not taking a chance on getting that also.

I noticed on Amazon that they have another brand. And dang if this Jernigan product shipping is $$$$.

$12 for the product and $8.50 for the USPS shipping of a 4 ounce bottle.

Funny how sometimes you can't get a link to work on one page, but it will work on another page for the same product.

It might work with all the things they have in it - but I couldn't use it due to the fact that they use soy oil and I'm very allergic to it. I'm sticking to deet and permethrin for personal protection (as well as appropriate clothing), and using chemicals on my yard for the reason you stated above: Risk of being reinfected. I've lived with these infections for most of my life, I have no desire to risk staying that way!

I use an essential oil blend with water and Witch hazel.

Rose Geranium is in the one I posted a link to in another thread.


I read her story several years ago - and she had lyme...and said this spray works.


i have only been using the Essential oil blend - (not just geranium oil but a few other EO's with it) - I can't say if it works for ticks because we just don't see many. (I've seen one in 3 years)
But, I haven't had a mosquito bite...and I always get them....they love me.

I used an EO blend, but it failed for the mutant mosquitos here. I just checked the ingredients and doesn't have RG in it. So, I'll have to try this one some time.

I'm generally skeptical because no products work for me personally if mosquitos are bad. They flock to me!! So, I'll definitely be the first to post if this actually works for me! ; )

I wonder why they like some people more than others'. We would go camping and the mosquitoes would be all over me but my husband and son wouldn't get a bite.

I couldn't find the Rose Germanium in our health food store (it's different than just Geranium) but I saw Amazon has it so will add it to my order.

carbon dioxide is a huge attractant to mosquitos so is type O blood type and lactic acid.

So if you are exercising and have type O blood, you probably are a mosquito magnet. My Mom always told me not to eat bananas but I think that is an old wive's tale.

A lot of scents are so fragrant that they attract mosquitoes.

As for ticks - they sit there hanging on to whatever (leaf or blade of grass) with 2 legs and have 6 other legs outstretched reaching for the next host.
