CBD Oil, Cannabis, Other Herbals/Rx for Lyme/Co-Infection Headaches

I've been posting a lot lately (please bear with me). My good news is that I've been treating Babs with Mepron/Zith and seen improvement (chills, night sweats, rocking ship feeling, air hunger -- all greatly diminished).

My bad news is that Bartonella is now rearing its head in full force. My LLMD doesn't want to take me off the Mepron/Zith as it's only been one month. So, we will add Septra to the mix today to provide some Bart coverage as I do not want to go the Levaquin route and rifampin doesn't mix with Mepron.

My worst symptom is unrelenting headaches -- around and behind the eyes, sinuses, temples. I've been out of work for 3 days. Nothing hits these headaches, even my prescription for Fiorocet (which I don't want to take regularly) provides only minor relief.

I have heard mixed results about CBD oil, and asked my LLMD about it today (awaiting her reply). Anyone with success using CBD oil -- or topical on the temples -- for headaches? Cannabis is now legal in my state, but I would prefer not to go that route as I don't want to be incapacitated (though if these headaches get worse, I may have no choice).

Anything else that has worked for people? Essential oils? Kudzu root? Any other non-opiate Rxs? So hard to feel good about even nominal progress when you feel so horrible. Thank you for any/all ideas.

Well, if the headaches are from brain pressure/inflammation, Kudzu root will help, as will anti-inflammatories.

I started using a mushroom mix to support my immune system, and every time I do, I get Bart rage because of the inflammation it causes in my brain - so I increased my anti-inflammatories (because the Kudzu that I was taking wasn't enough to cover it) and I'm myself again! Not only that, but of course the increased doses of anti-inflammatories have helped in other areas of my body as well.

The other thing that may be playing a part (depending on where you live) is seasonal allergies! Most of us are in the midst of Spring, with all of it's lovely pollen. This is likely not the only cause of the sinus pain (if you have it), but by taking a decongestant regularly, it may help with that pain as well. It's something that you can at least try.

Give CBD a try. It won't hurt. It didn't help my headaches. Straight up cannabis edibles help. But I can only take it if I have no where to go. Good for nighttime relief!
Also peppermint oil is soothing. Caffeine paired with ibuprofen can help too. Ice packs or heat. I have a whole slough of stuff I try in order for my migraines and pressure headaches. I've been getting Meyers cocktail IVs too. Benedryl can give relief too.
So what I try: caffeine, zorvalex (prescription nsaid), imitrex, cannabis, tramadol, peppermint oil, ice packs, benedryl.

Thanks Trav and Chick. I asked my LLMD about the Kudzu. Not sure how to dose that. And, I'm meeting with my PCP tomorrow, who had prescribed the Fioricet, to ask about more traditional Rxs, like the ones you mentioned.

Do you think the Samento/Banderol helped you? I'm thinking of asking my LLMD if we can add it to my protocol after I have added the Septra.

I have had my current headache for 3 months. It's hard to imagine life without it ... but I know one exists, just have to get there.

I've been dealing with constant headaches too. CBD oil doesn't help with the headache, but it helps with the stress caused by the caused (or vice versa). CBD oil makes it so I feel more normal mentally. I also suffer with anxiety and was having REALLY bad panic attacks. The CBD oil helped that immensely. As for the headaches, most days I use peppermint oil on my neck and forehead. If that doesn't work, I go for the ibuprofen. Mostly I just sleep or lay down all day. As for cannabis, I have a sativa that doesn't really make the pain go away, but makes it so I don't care so much about the pain. It's weird. The pain is still there, but I'm not bothered by it much. It only lasts a few hours.

I just got mine yesterday, but it is not exactly CBD OIL, but CBD imprint! It's a pure energy formula.

It's too soon to tell, but I react with a sort of allergy to hemp seeds, given to me in the past (still when my lyme was active).

Years later, I tried hemp milk, I felt awful too. My daughter reacted equally to me to hemp, so I never tried it more than a couple of times (until the bad reaction came).

Now I just bought a CBD oil imprint, used for inflammation and pain, from Vital Force technology. I took a few drops, so far, no bad reaction, I just feel relaxed.

I don't have lyme anymore, but still suffer from candida sometimes (not active now though). That is basically why I bought it. I suffer from candida in the winter, mostly.

And from some arthritic pains, here and there (nothing like lyme though). I'm sure there is inflammation in my joints, but nothing as dramatic as during lyme.

so I'll try this formula slowly... As my symptoms are not strong, I won't be able to tell if the formula helps. BUt I thought to write about it here, for others who are intolerant to hemp like us.

Thanks. My LLMD said that he's had many patients use CBD with success for a variety of ailments, anxiety, brain fog, inflammation and headaches. I just bought some today and will see if it makes a difference. Like you, 10Lyme, even if it helps with other issues, it may be worth it. Here's hoping it hits the headaches, too!
