Houttuynia herx - Or bartonella flare ?

Hi everyone,

I know houttuynia isn't supposed to cause herxing -that it may in fact be caused by die off from the many other pathogens. I think I've read that the swelling of the endothelial may cause herx like symptoms.

But I'm just wondering if anyone else had increased anxiety as they increased their houttuynia dosages?

My son is up to 20 gtts 2/day and has increased anxiety /hand washing -worse at bedtime. It's really awful.

Do you think it is a "herx" or a flare?

He's still on jkw and gou teng.
He's also on cromolyn sodium, ranitidine, Quercitin and Claritin to try to reduce his IgE. Which when he was very sick was 8400, then 5600 and at the beginning of the month 4900. (Normal is >420)

I wanted to get him on sida acuta, but llnd said wait until we work on this IgE stuff.

Any thoughts/suggestions?

I had a terrible herx when I suddenly and too quickly increased my houttuynia drops. So much that I was unable to take it again for about 6 months without even 1 drop causing me problems. All these herbs are very powerful and I have found for me houttuynia was the most herx inducing of all.

I also herxed pretty hard on houttuynia - anyone that says it doesn't cause a herx only says that because they didn't experience one, but it surely doesn't rule out that possibility for others.

Go slow and steady - and easy - with this herb. Those of us that react strongly to it means that it's something we need to be careful with so we don't end up in a serious herx making us stop treatments - like what Suzee (and I) went through.
