Sick to Stomach - trouble eating

My mom is undergoing an aggressive Lyme treatment currently as most of you know. She has been complaining of being sick to her stomach for the past week. As of today, she is finding it hard to swallow any food. Fluids are fine, and she did eat some mashed potatoes and part of an egg this morning, but isn't able to eat any more of her lunch. She said it feels like her body "doesn't want her to swallow" and she gags.

I was thinking this could be from her being sick to her stomach? But I am obviously also concerned that something is going on with her throat, etc. She also said her lymph nodes in her neck are swollen.

I have contacted her doctor, just waiting to hear back. Any advice is appreciated.

Have her start doing lymph massages for her neck - do watch for increasing symptoms of a herx, as this may release enough toxins to make that happen since she's kind of keeping a delicate balance with her herxing. If this happens, add in some binders.

Have her drink ginger tea 3 - 4 times a day. This should stop most of the nausea. I find that if fresh ginger is used, it's much more effective for me. It can be sweetened with stevia for improved taste.

Do let us know what her doctor says too!!

During my aggressive treatment days, I never knew if I could eat breakfast or lunch until after I took a few bites. I use to go out to lunch at a local diner serving home cooked comfort food menu items, but often took most of it home to go because I couldn't eat. Haven't been back in two years.

I agree with Trav on the ginger root.

Hopefully it will pass soon

The doctor at the nursing home thinks that it is because of her upset stomach that she feels she cannot swallow. He has ordered something for her to take to help with her stomach. I am going to look into the ginger tea as well. Thanks as always!!

Hi Kari...

If it's not one thing, it's another with this treatment. Sorry mom is struggling with these issues - hope we can help.

The lymph nodes in neck, trouble swallowing could be an immediate reaction from the abx (is she on bart abx? sorry - I forgot). Bart loves the nodes in neck/head. I spent a week in bed after starting bart abx - not being able to move - neck/head were so sore. But it subsided.

It could also be from toxins getting backed up because there's just so much going on with her. I agree w/ the others - she just needs to flush more, dry brushing could help. Red root is what gave me fast relief from swollen nodes in neck/head.

Her nausea is also probably toxin overload in the gut and the imbalance that can be caused by the treatment - again, if you can incorporate the binders, it might help flush those out a little better.

And, time usually helps, although that certainly doesn't help her feel better today. Glad you checked in -

a suppoded als thing is difficulty swallowing . when my nerves were at the worst i would bite my tounge and have trouble swollowing . its a autonomic nervous thang ..hopefully it will get better ..for the lyph she likely will need red root ticture as movement or manual stim may be hard for her but the swollen lymph is a sign that the immune sx is woking to kleanup the mess.

dr martz would say one needed to herx to clear nerves but not so hard as to cause any more damage ..super fine line
