Hi there,

Would anyone be able to tell me if Lyme can pass through to the baby while pregnant. I think I was bitten when I was eight months pregnant. I also breastfed for three months too so am concerned about my daughter who is now four and half months old.

I started to experience symptoms a few months ago and it took me the past two months of going through numerous doctors to finally considering lyme. My armin lab elisa test came back with a weak positive and a CD57 & NK (absolute) count of 26 - would this be indicative of lyme?

If so I assume I'll need to see a LLMD in the UK.

I just wanted to ask - if that is your 'real' name. It's best for you to change it - the general public can see these posts online (non-members) - so it's best to use something other than your full name.


Yes, it is thought that the bacteria can be passed on to the baby in utero.

..and yes, a weak positive on the Armin lab test would be indicative of lyme.

Do you currently have any symptoms?

I'm sorry you're here but very glad you found us. Girlie expertly provided all the critical info for you at this time. I also have quite a few links to studies regarding transmission through placenta and breastmilk. Please let me know if you'd like me to post these - it's a little info overload.

Girlie - thanks again for the information you sent through. I'm currently setting up an appointment to see a LLMD.

Pirouette - that would be really helpful if you could share any information you have. I'm hoping that my little one doesn't have it!

I'm glad you booked an appointment.

I would love some feedback on this LLMD - would you mind emailing me after your appointment and let me know which Dr. or clinic you've chosen - and give me your impression of him/her?
That way, if he/she is a good LLMD - then I won't hesitate giving that name out again.
