New tick bite- need advice

My wife woke up last night with a tick bite on her belly. I pulled it off and it looks red around a small little purple spotIt's been about 16hrs since I took it off. It couldn't had been on for more than a couple hrs. I don't see any big red ring. Looking for advice

I looked at the photo - and to me it looks like a spot in the middle with a ring around it.
Edited to add: I took another look and it's not a true bullseye, but I wouldn't take any chances.
Hard to see.

Can you take your wife to a Doctor today and ask for antibiotics?
She will need to treat until symptom free plus 4 more weeks. (minimum 6 weeks)

If they won't give her a month...get what you can.

Then - find a LLMD - call them and say it's a recent bite. They usually have waitlists...but maybe they will squeeze her in since treating now is crucial to reduce chances of it becoming a chronic infection. A LLMD is someone who knows how to treat Lyme disease - a specialist.

To find a LLMD, start a new thread titled: "looking for LLMD in/near______" and fill in the blank.

I would test the tick if you have it.
Umass Amherst has a tick testing program.

If you don't have it and / or while you wait for results you can get her on antibiotics asap plus astragalus ( an herb) 3000 mgs/ day...

In New England a lot of bites look like that even if no Lyme present. The bite itself gives out a toxic reaction. You just never know based on the rash. That rash doesn't look good .. isn't a classic bullseye but could very much still be infected. There's a lot of variation to rashes. Some are no doubt the em rash. I've had two and they were very different. One classic and the other not.

Also watch for unusual symptoms-... cold symptoms fever neck aches etc. symptoms dont always show up right away can be months... I believe most cases within thirty days but always be watchful.

Research symptoms

Go for treatment asap better safe than sorry
Next time save tick and test it.

Take a look at these EM rashes:

As you see they're not all true bulls eye rashes.

I would NOT rely on the bull's eye rash for confirmation of lyme.

If I know ANYONE that is bitten by a tick and no matter rash or not, and even if on for 1 minute, I always recommend antibiotics right away!

It is just the smart thing to do.

The last child that was bit, I recommended that the mother say the tick was on for a day. Otherwise the doctor might not treat because they are under the CDC rules and those rules are not good. Sorry to say this.

Yes, guidelines call for treatment whether it's a tickbite (withOut an EM) or if there's a bite Plus an EM

It does, however dictate how long to treat. Per guidelines - tickbite alone is 28 days BUT with an EM it is treat to sign/symptom free plus 4 weeks (minimum 6 weeks)

Hopefully it will be treated as an EM
