Canadians!! House of Commons - Federal framework on LD - earlier today

I haven't finished watching it...but so far definitely worth watching.


There has been an uprising in the past few months...after it became apparent that the Lyme Disease Framework really does NOTHING for improving anything - testing...diagnosis...training dr.'s...treating patients...
So much for Bill C-442.

There are some Lyme advocates - who speak and then Dr. Lloyd (who had to go to the U.S. for treatment) - speaking as a Scientist on the "Lyme disease framework"

Science and the framework:

"The term evidence based is tossed about quite liberally in the framework. but it is misused - what evidence or science based means is NOT that someone .... somewhere has done a study that where you like the results and they're convenient results and then you just declare that to be correct - it means that you take all the relevant peer reviewed literature and you ask "Does it all say the same thing?..and if it doesn't say the same thing, you have to figure out why..but you don't just ignore the stuff you don't like.....that is the antithesis of science. And there has been an enormous history of cherry picking within the whole development and management of lyme disease in Canada."

Finally 'something' positive is happening and hopefully change is coming.

It's definitely worth watching

I'm not impressed that one of the advocates mentioned IDSA a few times in her 'testimony'
But Doctors here and in most provinces aren't even doing the IDSA guidelines...they're literally doing 'nothing'. They don't even have lyme on their radar.

I still haven't finished watching/listening to it.

I just want the GP's to have it on their radar and think about LD when someone comes in with symptoms..

...and when someone comes in with a tickbite with a bullseye rash - to administer antibiotics...

I am very pleased with my Dr. - she is offering 3 weeks (wish it was 4) of antibiotics now when anyone comes in with a bite that they think might be a tick bite.
