Hi All -
I've been treating with Zith (300mg daily) for almost 8 weeks and Mino (200mg daily) for about 6 weeks. My LLMD wanted me to add Tinidazole to the mix, and I had what I am assuming was a herx on VERY low doses. Anxiety spiked, headache, and it brought my menstrual cycle on a few days early. I'm terrified of trying to go back on the Tinidazole. She acknowledges that I had a herx, and she really wants me back on it, even if it's a low dose.
How do I know it's a herx and not a med reaction? From what I'm reading, this is a very toxic drug.
What other options do I have? Is this drug the only drug that will heal chronic Lyme?
Feeling discouraged today.
Thanks for any info!

How often did she want you taking the Tinidazole?
It should be pulsed - just a couple days a week. So, start out with just taking it one day a week...and see how you do. And don't take it every week. Try just taking it one week every 3-4 weeks - first one day...and then two days.
It is a cyst buster. Another option is Flagyl. It is in the same class as the Tinidazole. Flagyl is the one that was tested on mice and rats and was shown to cause bladder cancer with long term use.
You could try a non antibiotic approach - GSE
