Really comprehensive article.
Two things that I didn't like in the article:
"in particular on the 10 to 15 percent of patients who suffer long-term symptoms, defined by Centers for Disease Control (CDC) as post-treatment Lyme disease syndrome (PTLDS)."
Those percentages are way too low. Also there is is no PTLDS. You either have symptomatic lyme or you don't.
That's like taking a cast off an arm too early and diagnosing the patient with "Post-Cast-On-Arm-Syndrome" to explain why the person's arm still hurts and not functional.
"Dr. Zubcevik said doxycycline stops the bacteria from replicating, but it doesn’t kill them. The rest is up to the body’s immune system"
Kind of, sort of right. Doxy can kill some bugs here and there but yes it's biggest attribute is stopping the replications. The Doxy creates an environment that makes the lyme bacteria put up defenses or hide, rather than be in the blood stream to replicate (this is good and bad).
The rest is not just up to the immune system, alone. There's herbs.
