LLMD visit follow up

Had appt w/LLMD today. After almost 5 months on Doxy, Bartonella and Ehrlichia tests through Igenex came back negative. Lyme IgM still CDC positive.

Quitting Doxy and starting Amoxicillin and Biaxin. Have not yet picked up prescriptions so don't know dosages.

Wondering what to expect herx wise on these new meds? The Doxy knocked me for a loop when I started it.

I found amoxy quite 'benign' - didn't feel bad on it - but it does have a short half-life of one hour - so I was prescribed it 3X daily 1000 mg per dose.
I also took Probenecid with it - it is another med that will keep the amoxy in your blood in higher concentrations - longer.

If I were you, i'd start one at a time. Maybe do the amoxy for a week..then add in the biaxin.

Why did you retest?

You know that a positive lyme test result doesn't tell you if you still have active infection.

Girlie, Retested per doctor's instructions. According to him the positive IgM indicates active infection. Thanks much for the amoxicillin info.

You do know a negative result won't tell you anything though?

It sounds like your doctor is proactive and that is great.
